Steps leading somewhere [tag Saetan, Faramir, sort of open?]

Jan 30, 2012 23:07

Rehearsals were not yet under full swing at the Opera House yet, and she did not have many classes this month, so when she'd spoken to Saetan and they'd discussed dances from their home worlds, the similarities and differences, she'd suggested they each teach a dance they knew to the other. Tonight it was her turn - she was to teach him the ( Read more... )

Saetan arrived perfectly on time, as was his habit.

The walk over had helped smooth away the tiny bit of limp that remained, and he set his cane aside as he took a moment to listen to the music she had playing. It was a live song - but nothing quite like what they had back home. He would need to make an effort to explore music from others cultures, while he was still sure to have access to it.

"Good evening, Meg."

"Good evening," she responded, and smiled. "Would you like a moment to stretch, or perhaps a cup of water?"

"A moment, please." It doesn't take long to do the indicated stretching, though he does roll up his sleeves first. New dances were always difficult - always seemed to work new muscles.

It was part of what made learning them so nice.

When he seemed about ready, she walked over. First she showed him the basic steps. Not too different from a waltz (ONE-two-three&swivel, ONE-two-three&swivel), but faster.

"Think you have that?"

The movements were simple, and it only took seeing them once to get them down. "Yes, I believe I do."

The slow smile curling over his lips was for more than learning dance moves. Here, dancing, he was in his comfort zone.

She nodded. "I thought you might. So - music." She turned it on and then walked back to face him, and they began. She led, ever so subtly, weaving him round and round, and showing him how to turn her if he wished - the more complex steps he could later lead her in to.

He let her lead gently for the first few sets of steps, getting a hang of the flow and ebb. But that didn't last long at all. He took control, firmly and smoothly, leading them into a turn as a warm, entirely masculine smile spread over his face.

After that she only led through new sorts of turns and swivels, but in very little time she'd gone through almost everything she knew. Saetan did not require teaching more than once. And so she slipped into following easily, letting him lead her across the floor. She smiled back, but did not often look at his face. For one, they were offset in the dance, and for another, something about the smile made her wish to look away.

As learned the new steps, Saetan became more confident in his ability. As he became more confident, the same sensual maleness that managed to be an integral part of most of his dances crept into his leading.

If you wanted to bed a woman, you did it in the bedroom. If you wanted to seduce her, you did it on the dance floor. He didn't try to release that feeling when he danced, anymore. It was simply... instinctual.

Meg had experienced this before, and though it had made her blush, she had chalked it up to him being an emotional dancer. Inexperienced with seduction, she'd thought it was just the excess emotion he was giving off that made her flush, but this time she was less sure.

When she had danced with Faramir at the Winter Ball she had felt something from him... and she could have sworn the same sort of thing was coming from Saetan, now.

Not that she thought he was trying to seduce her - he'd given no hint of it during his time as her employee. Except when they danced.

Saetan would never overstep such boundaries on purpose.

There was a deep-held belief, however, that people were sexual creatures. That sexual impulses were natural, healthy, and beautiful things. He knew how uncomfortable he could make Meg, and therefore often tried to check himself. At the same time, sometimes, he wanted to push ever-so-gently against her sensibilities; he wanted to her to have a chance to understand that side of herself.

Although at first his energy had made her feel stiff and awkward, she had not stopped because she was enjoying the dance so... in time, it turned to small prickles, and a tingle of awareness. Of him as Male, yes - but also of herself as Female. She'd always taken it for granted, but it now occurred to her that she'd never really known what it meant, not even when the first blood came. Women had appetites too, she'd heard, but she'd never really thought of any of that in conjunction with herself. She'd find a husband when she was older and no longer a dancer, of course, and have children then, but there were certain things other young women did, without taking a husband...

Meg blushed. Or flushed, she really could not be sure. Her thoughts had strayed, and she took a misstep in the dance - a rare thing, for her.

Saetan smoothed their stumble with the ease of long practice and good leading. The look he sent her was confused, however. Meg had never stumbled in their practices before, and it was slightly worrying.

"Are you all right?"

"Yes, I just... forgot myself, for a moment. My mind wandered." Pity she couldn't have waited another few moments - the song was coming to an end.

AS the song ended, Saetan stepped back. His hands didn't quite hover, but he did set up on of Jaenelle's soft shields behind Meg, trying to steady her.

"If you're sure."

"I'm sure. I'm sorry. But you're learning it all very quickly - I'm not sure there's much more I can teach you. A few more spins, perhaps, and your poses are more natural than precise, but you're very good."
