I recently realised, to my sad displeasure, that's it's been more than a year since I've written any sort of story simply for myself, without any challenge or fest attached to prod me along. It was more than a bit shocking, in all honesty, considering I used to write constantly, in all my spare time, regardless of whether I posted what came out or not. I'm not at all pleased about this, so I've decided to get myself back in the swing of things. I scoured the 'Net until I stumbled across a sorta-somewhat prompt list that looked vaguely interesting. I've decided to post it here, and as I fill certain prompts, I'll replace it with a link. I'll probably not do all of them, as there are some that aren't really my thing, but anyone else is welcome to them if they find inspiration.
1. It was the first snowfall of the year.
2. He hadn't seen her since the day they left school.
3. The city burned, fire lighting up the night sky.
4. Silk
5. She studied her face in the mirror.
6. The smell of freshly-cut grass.
7. They came back every year to lay flowers at the spot.
8. The streets were deserted. Where was everyone? Where had they all gone?
9. This time her boss had gone too far.
10. Red eyes
11. Stars blazed in the night sky.
12. He woke to birdsong.
13. 'Shh! Hear that?' 'I didn't hear anything.'
14. He'd always hated speaking in public.
15. She woke, shivering, in the dark of the night.
16. The garden was overgrown now.
17. He'd never noticed a door there before.
18. She'd have to hitch a ride home.
19. 'I told him not to come back, too!'
20.
His feet were already numb. He should have listened. I've also noticed that whoever made this list seems to have a certain preference for night. Not that I mind; just an observation. ^_^
