Some of my favourite books EVER are written by Robin Jarvis. I've never met anyone apart from me and my dad who have read any of his stuff.
His best series is the Deptford Mice/Histories.
Even though the characters weren't human I really felt emotionally attached to them, they were so well written.
The Oaken Throne was my fave of the Histories series. Even though he was a bat, Vesper was the love of my life! *sighs* And the 'Bloody Bones' was terrifying when he was revealed *shudders*
I loved the fact that the main hero in the Mice series was a girl. So that should be heroine! True Girl Power long before the Spice Girls appeared!!
It's been a while since I read them all so I've forgotten alot of the finer details, but I do remember crying. Alot. Has anyone else read these books? Or has anyone got any recommendations for books that affected them emotionally too?
This is a historical fiction based on the lives of Robespierre, Danton and Desmoulins. I love the history of the French Revolution, and I actually used some of the info from this book in an exam!!
It is so well researched and so convincing that I actually believe that these conversations and meetings took place.
The book has had an impact on my life, albeit very small, because now whenever I go to Paris I deliberately seek out the places and street names mentioned in the book and imagine that I was there during and after the Revolution...
