helllooooo, nurse(s)! how ju all doin?

thanks to dianalynn for nudging me to post. it has been far too long.

so, i have decided to discontinue all challenges; that is the most important. i honestly can't shake the feeling that each challenge brought me bad luck in some way. getting sick, hurting my knee, suffering the sickness and then death of a loved one... anyway. i don't feel like seeing how much worse it can get, lol. and i know it's ridiculous to even think that my exercising could somehow be related to any of this, but um, yeah.

i AM, however, going to try to be better about this whole thing. of late i have been really bummed about a lot of things - mostly work related. sooooo, i've not only fallen off the exercise wagon, but totally off the food wagon as well. damn, but these wagons are slippery. so today is a new day and i'm starting new things. i have a habit of procrastinating until monday to implement life changes, but who cares what day it is, i need to start and now. no more excuses.

so today i woke up at 5:30 and went to spinning. which was killer. this instructor like wants us all to die. but i mean, it was very exhilarating. after spinning i did some very easy weight-lifting. not too many reps (2 sets on each machine of 10-12 reps), and the lightest possible weight for everything. i'll probably increase to 3 sets of 12 on everything i can, but i probably won't increase the weight by much. i don't want to be muscular. i just want to work the muscles, ya know? and be toned. so i just used weights for my upper body (shoulders, arms, and back), as well as for my abs & obliques. i don't think i'm going to do any leg or butt stuff. i like my legs and butt. any toning they will get will be from spinning.

so my current decision for a schedule is this: do spinning mondays, wednesdays, and fridays in the morning followed by weights. then, if i want to, in the evening i can do vinyasa yoga on mondays and pilates on wednesdays. on tuesdays and thursday mornings, i will do yoga on my own for 40 minutes - either a 40 minute workout or 2 20-minute ones, as i have so many DVDs that i don't want to go to waste. on tuesday and thursday evenings, i can choose to do classes if i want - yogalates and/or kundalini yoga on tuesdays, and i forget what's available on thursdays. but whatever. as long as i'm not overloading myself and truly just going out of interest.

my goal is to lose quite a few inches by march 25th - my engagement party. it's not really a big party. just a family thing. but still. i'd definitely like to be slimmer and trimmer for that. right now i can squeeze myself into a size 8 and floof out around the edges. i would like to fit comfortably into an 8 by then. i mean, sizes can vary from store to store, but i mean MY size 8 pants - that's what i'll be going by. weight-wise, i don't know how much is a reasonable expectation to lose.

as of yet i haven't lost any weight, i don't think. i believe im still hovering at 165. my goal by august, which is SIX MONTHS AWAY, is to reach 140. 25 pounds to go before the wedding. ideally i'd like to be even 135, but i don't care. once i get to 140 i can be good about it.

ALSO. i NEED to start making a food log. i have been eating very, very poorly. ice cream, dibs, NUTRIGRAIN BARS... who knew you could binge on nutrigrain bars? but no more of that! if i write it all down, perhaps i will be more likely to be good.

so far today i have had a bowl of cheerios with some vanilla soymilk. lunch is going to be brown rice with spinach, mushrooms, and tofu, with some stirfry sauce, salt, & spices. no plans for dinner yet, but i am sure we will do something healthy. i will be bringing 98% fat-free popcorn to work in case i get hungry and need snackage. yesterday i think i had 3 nutrigrain bars. ugh.

also, i am going to TRY to drink 2 liters of water a day. i can definitely do 1 and sometimes i do 1.5. i would like to get this up to 2. when i'm REALLY well hydrated, i am way less likely to snack. i also pee all day, but that's okay - isn't it true that every time you pee, you pee out a little bit of fat? i dunno, i guess we'll see.

but yeah. i can easily do this food thing. i ENJOY healthy food. i'd rather eat brown rice and tofu than pizza most days. and every now and again, if i want to get a pizza, i can. but when i DO order out, i'm way more likely to get like, a wrap with grilled mushrooms, fresh mozz, basil, and tomatoes, seasoned only with some vinegraitte (how the fuck do you spell that word?) rather than pizza or a calzone. which is awesome.

anyhoo. i should go to work. i definitely want to keep up with the exercise thing. i'm in such an awesome mood, and i KNOW it's because i worked out a lot of the tension i've been feeling. yay spinning!
