Gabriella on the other hand wasn't sure if he would answer or not. Some people screened them, herself included, where if she didn't know the number she would let it go to her voice mail first, just in case it was someone breathing heavily down the receiver or something of the sort. She bit her lip when she heard him speak, but she had already gone through how this would go in her head. "H-hi, Eli. It's Gabriella. Uhm. Gabriella Gray."
She didn't even really need to say her name, he could tell by the sound of her voice who it was. Her name only confirmed what he already knew, that Gabriella was on the other end of that line. He wanted to hang up now. He wished he had a corded phone that he could slam into a cradle somewhere in a glorious gesture of anger. But sadly, iPhones didn't work well for that. So he did the next best thing.
"What do you want." The response fought with another he had inside his head that wanted to know if she was okay, if something had happened. The anger he felt though out weighed anything else.

No, iPhones didn't, and she was sort of thankful for that. It would hurt a lot more if he did just slam the phone down on her. She wanted to at least hear his voice, just once, even if it was him saying good bye forever.
"I..." She hesitated for a moment as she bit her lip. "I just wanted to hear your voice." Honesty is best, right? She swallowed. "I wanted to see how you are. It's been...a while."
