For all the geeking out she did, it was a relief to see that Justin had his moments too. Moments that were more intense than hers, too.
The day had been spent at the Natural History museum, where she hadn’t been since she was a kid, and the majority of the time spent there had been spent in the dinosaur exhibit, obviously. Gabriella had stayed close to him the whole time, watching, amused, as he animatedly told her about the different types of dinosaurs. She had known some of the things he told her, since she loved to read, and had read plenty of books cover to cover, some about dinosaurs too, but she played a blank slate remarkably well when it came to him, and pretended that she’d never heard any part of it before.
But it was fun, and that was what was important above it all. That’s what she liked the most about it. It wasn’t the type of fancy-rich-folk thing they’d done, expensive restaurants or various charity events and parties. Those were fun in their own way. It was fun getting dressed up in some gorgeous gown, with equally gorgeous jewellery, and though she wasn’t used to the whole being photographed thing, there was still an element of fun to it. It made her feel ~special. There was something empowering about knowing people were likely jealous of her, and what she had. But this balanced things out, and kept her - them, in some ways grounded.
After spending a significant amount of time at the museum they left, her having bought a plush stegosaurus that would hopefully end up friends with Rex and Nicky the second. Now though they were back at his apartment, and she was trying to orchestrate their fort building.
“I think that we could use the chairs from the dining room, like, one on top of the others with the seats facing each other, you know? That way it’ll give more of a height to it, and make it more comfortable for us.” She scrunched her nose up as she looked at the living room, and then at him, her face contorting from the scrunch to her lips being pressed together. “Don’t give me that look, mister, we don’t want it collapsing in on us while we’re doing things in it, now do we?”
