Disclaimer: Partially inspired by "Ugly" by 2NE1
She was used to a few hurtful words from people whose names she didn't know nor cared to know.
But being called ugly by her own friend, her bandmate (her sister, in some sense) was more heartbreaking than one could imagine. She was assured it was part of the script, that it wasn't real and that she shouldn't take it to heart but it wasn't that simple.
He had heard the stories before and the hurtful things people had said about her but also about him as well. He was used to it and even if it still hurt a little, he decided to let his talent for dancing and his fun personality do the talking.
But he didn't think she felt the same way. She tried to be stronger at least for the sake of her own pride but he saw right through it (the only person who could).
He took her into his arms and embraced her tightly, warmly with only the best of intentions. But she didn't want it.
She knew it would just make her cry and that her walls would come down and she would be forced to deal with her own insecurities.
He didn't care. He wanted her to let him in, let him see her exposed as possible so they would grow closer.
He smiled at her and nearly made her melt, so to speak. She resisted though, not wanting to let him know how she was feeling.
There was no point really. He already knew most of what she was feeling albeit not all of it. Even if the pain was similar, there were differences in just how they each dealt with it.
She knew this but didn't want it to be true. She wanted to be strong like him.
What she didn't realize was that what she saw as strength was really a sacrifice. He sacrificed his own ability to feel the pain of insecurity and the aftermath of what happens when that insecurity is brought to the surface.
He hid it well. Not for the sake of keeping his manly pride or any silly thing like that.
To him it was more important to be strong for her sake. He wanted her to feel safe and comforted. He wanted to provide a security that she could get nowhere else.
He whispered into her ear and told her that she was beautiful and that anyone who didn't see it was blind.
He also told her what a good person she was. He reminded her of all her strengths and told her that any flaws she might see in herself were mainly her imagination and that even if they did exist, they could hardly be considered flaws since, when added with the strengths, they made one hell of a girl.
She thanked him for his kind words, only feeling the slightest bit comforted.
What eventually drove her to tears was the sounds of the three words that came from his mouth.
Three words that she repeated back to him, three words that made her feel more comforted and beautiful than any other words ever could.
THE END
A/N: Just for the record I think Eunhyuk and Hyoyeon are both gorgeous and talented individuals. I also think they make a very cute couple :3
