Hi.
Stopped over at Benji's again today to see about the juh-juh-job. They told me, when we met last week, that they'd know by Monday of this week. I hadn't heard anything, so I figured I'd stop by today and see what was up. Talked to the dude who runs the joint, and he told me that they'd have a decision by the weekend. Then we chatted about how I've been lately, and I asked how his mother-in-law was doing (she fell and broke her hip, I believe, when I first applied there). So, a nice little chat. I seem to have hit it off with the two owners there (husband and wife power duo!), so hopefully that works itself into actual employment.
Unfortunately, I think I'll be making minimum wage. BLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH.
Speaking of money, I'm making some independently now. Not with a printing press in my attic or anything like that... but through independent/contract design work. I should have a little over a hundred bucks coming from PBS at some point for some Flash web work I did for them. Plus, I designed a tri-fold brochure for a goon from the Something Awful forums for fifty bucks. I've thrown my hat into a couple of other design requests there, one paying around $200 if my design is chosen.
It's pretty sweet. Maybe I can parlay all of my experience into actual, steady work if I can get the ball rolling. It'd be nice to have a second job where I do the same basic work as my regular job while getting paid better and working at home.
My terabyte hard drive came in the mail today! With the swanky little external enclosure, it looks like a tiny Mac tower on top of my computer. MMMMMMM. 1,000 gigabytes of space.
In other hard drive news, I think that my previous external drive didn't actually crap the bed as I had previously believed. I hooked it up inside of my computer tonight to get ready to pull some files off, on the off-chance that it would actually work. It did! It does! Flawlessly! So, I think it was my external enclosure that was giving me the problems.
I won't have to send it off to get a new one just yet, which is nice. And, I've got a whole TB of free space, which will (after my other drive is wiped) lend its way to 400GB of backup space!

I am so tired all of the time lately. I'm placing the blame on the weather. It's so hard to get out of bed when it's dark, cold and dreary. At night, I get tired around 10PM, which is just silly. Not that I've been going to bed that early, since I'm an idiot, but the fact remains.
I drank coffee at work all day instead of eating lunch. I was busy, okay! I reworked the Pennysaver site again, and now have a fully readable version of the paper online. I'm still fixing some things up, and I've got to figure out how to make Spry/XML pagination work, but it's not bad thus far. It's a fucking massive leap from the website they had before I started working on it... plus, they've never had the paper available to read online, and the classifieds hadn't been updated on the site for years and years.
