2 ❧ ran to a tower where the church bells chime; I hoped that they would clear my mind

[ A | Home (briefly), Mayfield Public Library, Malt Shop, John Doe Park, Cosplay Cafe; Jacques' Roller Rink; Mami wakes up far earlier than she needs to on a Sunday. But then, it's not Mother's Day everyday, and right now she can't stand being inside the house longer than is absolutely necessary. All it will do is remind her of her own home, the parents she lost, the price she paid to save her own life over theirs in a desperate moment of survival. Sneaking downstairs, Mami does her best to slip out before any of her housemates can run into her.

She can be found in a wide variety of places for the remainder of the day, doing whatever would be expected of her there; flipping through books in the Library, snacking on sweets in the Malt Shop, taking a walk in the park, visiting the Cosplay Cafe, even trying to roller-skate for the first time in forever at the rink.

The last goes....a little worse than expected. Looks like it's harder to be graceful with wheels strapped to your feet!]

[ B | Annie's Flowers; Honestly, Mami doesn't want to be in here, this one place she has an actual reason for visiting beyond simple distraction. Buying flowers is one of the most obvious things to do if you want to get a pretty little token for your mother- or, well, a motherly figure in general, given the general lack of actual blood ties to bind families in Mayfield. The constant reminder of the celebratory nature of the day makes denial difficult, contrasting so sharply as it does with her own intentions....but still, it's something she has to do. So Mami slowly peruses the displays and shelves for....well, she's sure she'll know it when she sees it. Something fitting, something she can live with.

If she's going to do this, she's going to do it right. But then, without realizing it, she'll stop in front of some flowery plant or another to study it and just zone out......or almost bump into something stationary, whether it's a potted plant or a person.]

[ C | Church of Salvation; With most of the day now gone, Mami heads to the Church instead of home, taking a certain measure of care to not be seen. It's not that she's particularly religious, and so doesn't go to seek a sacrosanct kind of comfort- to voice her grief and send her wishes to whatever ear, holy or otherwise, that will listen. Neither is she an idiot; the church itself is obviously just as fake as the rest of the town. No, she goes because she hopes the place will be peaceful, empty, and because Mami doesn't really know where else to go. School is closed; night is coming on; she's not yet brave enough to finally go back to the house assigned to her.

She slips inside and takes a seat in a pew by the corner, ducking her head and closing her eyes, as if to blot out the rest of the world. The bouquet rests in her lap with her hands, petals touching her fingers. There's no grave to hold these flowers. Ultimately, they'll probably be thrown away. But maybe it'll be enough for now to just sit here, in this quiet place, and try to remember her mother as she was in life instead of Mami's own selfish failure in saving her from death.]
