Crap! I can't find the picture that I took of you standing in front of the big-ass bronze Chuck Heston/'Will Penny' statue which we saw at the National Firearms Museum.

I suck.

Besides his importance as an actor who stood for the right side of the civil rights movement before it was popular, another thing that most people of our generation don't know about Charlton Heston was that he was nine fucking feet tall.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on the awesomeness of Charlton Heston. Mainly, I can't say that I'm a big fan of the NRA. Obviously, there are examples, such as Great Britian, where guns are severely restricted and the murder rate is much lower than here. I think losing the ability to hunt or blow shit up is a small price to pay for that. And the whole thing about taking arms against tyranny seems a little unrealistic in our present day and age. When it's more of a pressing issue, then you can talk to me about that. Oh yeah, my grandpa also went to high school and Northwestern with Heston and said that he was an asshole. However, before the Alzheimer's started to kick in, my grandpa was a bit of an asshole himself, which, to me, makes him a questionable source. As far as the actor goes, I can't say that I've seen anything of his lately.

My colleague here would have you think that Mr. Heston was a bad actor, and that his statements on gun ownership can be caste down by the existence of a country called Great Britain ( ... )

You may have noticed a deleted the post where I criticized his acting. His acting fits his period pretty well. Plus, I noticed that he was in Touch of Evil, which intrigues me.

The Church of Awesome desires no discussion of gun-ownership in this venue as we believe our (correct and blessed) opinions will find no friendly audience with our esteemed colleague. We do suggest however that he broaden his comparative crime rate studies to more countries than England, and more variables than gun ownership, and that he reflect on the success rates of gun bans within the continental United States before he condemns the life of a Saint of our Church in such a cavalier fashion.

This paragraph would have been a lot more interesting with some data in it.
