Lovesick

It wasn't that he hated Gus' girlfriend.

He just wanted her to die.

It was probably a terrible thing to think but then again, it wasn't that he wished for her to die because he hated her. It was more the fact that he didn't want her to be there anymore and death seemed to be the simplest thing. However, she didn't die and Shawn was unhappy. Even more about his thoughts but he couldn't change them, couldn't tell himself just not to think it because here it was, the thought that with her gone everything would be back to normal and good again.

You're pathetic, Henry told him and he was right and it made Shawn only more pathetic.

And she was energetic and she made him laugh.

Do you think she will like that ring, Shawn?

What kind of question was that? A question you can very well ask your best friend, Henry told him with that warning look in his eyes. Shawn, don't be stupid. Shawn wanted to be stupid.

Dad, have you ever been in this situation, like, this really weird situation where you want someone to die - not because you mean harm at all but you don't know what else to think because it keeps you sane?

Henry gave him a long look and said no and Shawn knew he was lying. Which was even worse because his dad was supposed to tell him he was a lameass idiot and should stop thinking stuff like that immediately. And it was Gus, Gus, what didn't they understand about that? It was his best friend being with this woman and Shawn couldn't take it and why could everyone else be so casual about this?

This is not about Jessica, Shawn. It's about Gus. And Shawn yelled at Henry, it's a lie, because he knew he couldn't do anything about it as soon as it would be about Gus.

Get a grip, kid. They're a sweet couple. He's probably gonna get married. Friendship is about letting go. You should be happy for him.

And he was, he was happy for Gus, it was just himself he wasn't so happy for. And he watched the show from the sideline and he had never learned to do that which is why he failed that test and Gus wasn't around to help him out this time. Henry taught him everything. He never taught him how to be without Gus. He never learned how to be without him. Gus seemed to know by now but then again Gus had always been faster when it came to learning things.

He couldn't eat, couldn't sleep and couldn't stop grinning and looking healthy around other people.

Nobody would get it, would get what they were about, what their friendship was about. That he couldn't do this. That the jealousy was killing him inside, that he wasn't ready to share Gus, not like this. And he would be around and what would happen was that he would either lose Gus or Gus would enter hell because Shawn wouldn't be able to stop himself, wouldn't stop making his girl hate him with all his might and probably put his friend in the worst situation ever.

You're not good for him. You're a bad influence, Shawn. Do you ever think about what Gus wants? I hate how you take advantage of him! You call yourself a friend? It was a list, it was so long by now and he wanted to bake a cake. A wedding cake. And exchange the figures on the top.

He's going away, dad. He didn't want to cry but he couldn't help the water suddenly clouding his vision, making everything a wavering nothing while a lance was pierced right through his throat.

And for the first time Henry didn't yell, didn't call him an idiot, just sat there and handed him a beer and drank his own. Drama queen, he growled but he didn't mean it.
