Of course not. I think less of no one because of their religion. One of the things I love most about where we live is that we have the freedom to belive as we wish. On a civic level, I can respect that, and always will. However, I would be foolish to say that we "all believe the same thing." That is certainly not the case. Different religions all have differing beliefs: Mormonism differs greatly from Christianity. We belive differnt things about Jesus, God, Heaven, and our roles in Heaven. Those are just the beginning, but I'm sure you know the rest. It's not that I'm trying to pick a fight (if you remember, I was quite respectful when I found out you were a Mormom; and I always will be); all I am trying to do is have an intellectual discussion about truth, God, and how we can know anything at all
( ... )
I enjoyed reading your responce to Tickle and agree with the majority of what you say, as I said it myself in another such response. However, I am confused with your definition in what a "Christian" is. Is it a Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, etc., or all of them. You seem to have left out Mormons in your discussion and replied to someone noting a difference between that faction and "Christianity." I have always been taught that a Christian is someone who believes in Jesus as their lord and savior, who was sent to earth by God to pay the penalty of sin, death. Now, if you are going to let minute differences in doctrine sway you to believe that someone is not a Christian, then I would have to say that it is not Mr. Tickle who you should be dissappointed with, but yourself. Thats enough religious ranting for now, but I could go on for ethernity. JD....if you don't know who I am, then ask someone. I am sure they will inform you.

Ah, such boldness under the cloak of night, but your points are taken, nonetheless. You could tell me who you are; not a bad start, I guess?
As to your points: there are different sects of Christianity, as you have stated. The majority of these sects differ in liturgy and practice; there are some doctrinal differences (Baptists ascribe to dispensational theology, for example; I don't), but not enough to cause major division. But, I--as well as you--would be foolish to say that we "all fall under" some religious umbrella; that is simply not the case. Mormons and Evagelicals, for example, clearly part ways when it comes to "essential" doctrines. It's not that I say so, mind you; it's plainly put out there by each respective religious document (The Book of Mormon and the Bible).
Anyway, I'd be glad to dialogue with you; but who are you? Fair is fair, and we can be grown up about, this, can't we?

Sorry to sign in as anonymous; I forgot to sign in before I began my rant. Guess I just got to excited with you argument and my argument against it. My username is Tennisball205 and I have Tickle as my AP English teacher. I would like for you to give me some diversions in "essential" doctrine as you have stated. Apparently I have been living under a rock since the Mormons became non-Christians. Again I am sorry to be "under the cloak of night" and would enjoy to carry this conversation further under our conversational "light of day" as I think you would say. Vale, J Dooley

If only there were more people like you.
Most people don't get that.
They take it for granted.
