The Rules for the fourth
Harry/Draco Career Fair
at
hd_fan_fair H/D Career Fair is a Harry/Draco fest, thus all stories and works of art must have Harry/Draco as the primary romantic/erotic pairing. Pre-slash should be marked clearly in the header information. Their relationship doesn't have to be the primary focus of the story/art, but it is important that both Harry and Draco work in unusual careers and both characters play an important role in the story/art.
H/D Career Fair at
hd_fan_fair is a prompt fest. All entries will be posted anonymously. The names of authors and artists will be revealed in the Big Reveal at the end of the Fair.
Our Theme:
H/D Career Fair is Back!
These professions are not allowed in this year's H/D Career Fair:
Harry: Auror, Professor, Healer, Curse-breaker, Quidditch Player
Draco: Auror, Professor, Healer, Unspeakable, Potions Master
All other professions are permitted in this fest, including unemployed, rentboy and deviations of the forbidden ones such as Muggle equivalents (e.g. police officer, detective) or occupations in the same line of work (e.g. Headmaster, nursery school teacher).
Fest Timeline:
Prompting: June 5 (Draco's birthday) - June 19
Claiming: June 24 - July 14
Fic and Art due: September 9
Posting starts: October 1
Big Reveal: November 4
Joining the Comm:
Anyone who wants to participate in the H/D Career Fair - as prompter, reader, writer, podficcer or artist - please add
hd_fan_fair to your friends' list to keep up with fest updates etc.
Prompting opens on June 5, which is Draco's birthday!
- You may post as many prompts as you like.
- If making multiple prompts, please put each prompt in its own separate post.
- You cannot claim your own prompt, so don't prompt something you are dying to write yourself.
- Anyone can submit prompts. You don't have to write/create art for the Fair to be eligible for prompting.
- Each prompt has to include the following information (Prompting Template):
Era: specify whether you want the story/art to be Hogwarts Era, post-Hogwarts, EWE, Epilogue-compliant or AU, or if that is left up to the writer/artist
Additions: list three items/concepts/words to include in the story/art
Career: include at least one suggestion for an unusual career for Harry or Draco; your career suggestion can be for either Harry or Draco, it can be the same career for both of them, or a different career for each one.
Scenario: Give a scenario/setting/etc
Maximum Rating: G to NC-17, please say here if you want slash, pre-slash or if that is left up to the writer/artist
Claiming
Each prompt can be claimed once for art and once for fiction. Once you submitted your story or art, you are welcome to claim a second prompt. The Claiming Post will go up on June 24.
If you are claiming a prompt anonymously (i.e. you don't have an LJ account), please make sure that your contact information is up to date. It will also be helpful to include your non-LJ writing/art account information (if any).
Fic/Art Guidelines:
All fiction and art must be new and written/drawn specifically for
hd_fan_fair. It should NOT be posted anywhere else until after the Reveal, which will be on November 7.
All submissions need to include all necessary html coding (for bold, italics, center, etc). Please refer to
phoenixacid's
A N00b's Guide to html.
Fiction:
- Stories should have a minimum of 1500 words.
- All work should be a stand-alone and MUST not be part of another series or a sequel.
- All submissions must be beta-read and free of spelling mistakes. Please include the name(s) of the beta(s) in the story header. A header template will be provided before the submission deadline.
- All submissions will be checked before posting for faulty html and SPaG. If necessary, the mods will make general spelling, canon spelling and minor grammatical corrections.
- Your story must include all necessary coding and appropriate warnings.
Art:
- Art should be a stand-alone piece, but can be in the form of a comic, a fanvid or other forms of traditionally or digitally drawn works.
- The art work should be more than a quick sketch and show effort and time invested in the piece.
- Your art must include all necessary coding and appropriate warnings.
Podfics:
Podficcers are most welcome to record a podfic for the H/D Career Fair.
- You may select any H/D story for recording that fits the unusual career-theme of the Fair. The story need not have been written for a previous H/D Career Fair; it cannot have Harry and/or Draco in the forbidden professions, though.
- You may work in a collaboration with a writer who claimed a prompt and record their story.
- Podfics for H/D Career Fair are not posted anonymously; both the podficcers and the author's name will be noted in the header.
- Podfics of any length are acceptable.
- Sign-ups for podficcers will go up once Claiming starts.
Deadline and other problems:
While deadlines are not carved in stone, please try to keep to them. Still, this is not an exchange fest, so we won't feed you to Fluffy chase you down if you cannot manage the deadline or have to drop out of the fest. But please let us know as soon as possible, so we can re-arrange the posting schedule. Also keep in mind that prompters love to see their prompts come to life in a story or work of art. ♥
If you are having problems in getting your submission finished in time, please contact us sooner rather than later. We will do our best to help. The mods can be reached at: fanfairmod [at] gmail [dot] com
Flames and Unsolicited Beta Comments/Concrit:
Under no circumstances is flaming tolerated at
hd_fan_fair. One warning is given; if flaming persists the mods will ban you from both the community and the fest. If you feel you've been flamed by a member of this community or a commenter in the fest, please immediately contact the mods.
The mods reserve the right to screen comments made to fest entries that include unsolicited beta or "concrit" advice. We love commenters! Comments are love. But please keep in mind that H/D Career Fair is a fannish celebration of Harry/Draco and not a writing workshop. If you have valid concrit, please ask the author or artist after Reveals whether they are interested in hearing it. For some sage (and fun) advice on how to be a good commenter, please read
