Harry knows that something is missing from his and Draco’s relationship. When he says anything about it Draco frowns with an almost imperceptible sadness in his eyes and squeezes Harry’s hand and tells Harry he’s imagining things, he’s worrying too much, he’s making something out of nothing.
The war’s over so Harry lets the issue drop as Malfoy’s hand slips from his. He stares after Draco as he leaves the room, his walk stiffer than usual. Harry flicks his eyes away.
That night, Draco whispers “I love you” into Harry’s ear and Harry freezes, silent, Malfoy’s hand cold in his.
