"Just play something in C..."

Photographic evidence of our latest venture on stage... with thanks to badpauly for capturing the IVD in action (I got the photos of the other bands myself).

"Good evening, we're the surviving members of Boxcar..."

In which I demonstrate my unique ability to play keyboards without actually touching the keys, but by psychically radiating energy through my throat instead.

But hey, if we want to actually touch the keys, we can.

The IVD were playing to their biggest crowd ever.

Action shot! I was probably reaching over for my drink in this one.

"Come on, everyone, move closer to the stage. This isn't the fucking Gaelic Theatre..."

See? Told you there was a live drummer involved (that'd be Dan Nahum from Ironwood who was also filling in for Blatherskite last night; I don't think he'll ever play a gig quite like that again). This is what it looks like when the IVD try to actually be musicians...

Blatherskite were on second. As I said, they were cramped up there, and I think these pictures illustrate that; you can see how little room they had to move. I think on a stage where they weren't so hemmed in and could move around, they'd do better. And, as I said, they were playing with a fill-in drummer and bassist, and had only had four rehearsals with them. All things being equal, Blatherskite did not bad.

However, I think the folks from The Charles Manson Experiment were the winners on the night. I was impressed enough that I'll make a point of getting to that gig they're doing at the Annandale in October. The potential for them to go places is definitely there.
