here i am

apparently some of my family found me lost, so here I am checking in. For those of you not in my family my Grandpa died a week ago and ever since then it seems like I have been trapped in a warp world where only bad and/ or very disturbing things happen. I'm starting to come out of it, having made it through an insnae week, and am celebrating the return to the semi normal world by swimming, shopping at my favorite vintage store down the street owned by a man who serenades his customers on the loud speaker, and documenting what might be better suited for an overheard.com post. on my way home I attempted to stop at the tent sale at the toy store to see if there where any fun values for work. this toystore, whoever, is way to cool, hip and overpriced for anyones own good, being very close to college campus and in austin. it has a vegan ice cream/ coffee shop/ pastry place on the back, with a bunch of overly painted chairs outside that i set my stuff on while i browsed. unfortunatly, I'm not sure whether it was the milk, cookies, or chemically dependent brand name antipersperant, but something about my groceries set off an interchange between uber-dreaded hippie guy and uber- emo-haired guy. The conversation began with a discussion of lactose, accusing each other of consming it, and quickly escalated to factory farms, and whether eating from them or eating out of a dumpster was more dangerous. the whole tone had a markedly testosterone filled air about it that immediatly motivated me to get my stuff and go and as I was leaving they somehow decided to argue over whether or not it was expensive to be healthy. i giggled as i left thinking how now that i am in austin instead of madison at least there are two different hairstyles in the same old ridiculous conversation representative of my generation.... but then after i just went swimming i looked in the mirror and discovered that my grown out buzz cut is now long enough to make approximations of crazy hipster hair when wet all by itself. oh no! sounds like possibly a game for the fam next weekend.
