Our Grand Tour has begun!
We are spending tonight in
Metz, Top right hand corner of France, having travelled today on some very fast Trains via London and Paris.
The evening has been spent very agreeably exploring this old town and eating a mountain of
pasta. For a French town close to the German border the restaurants seem very Italian!
The Cathedral was nice to see - though having grown up close to Hereford Cathedral not much of a novelty for me. I was much more interested in the old (and still current) Post Office, built as part of a statement during one of the regions change of countries.
But on this holiday the travelling is part of the point, and tomorrow we set off again, for Switzerland. Hopefully we will be able to see some of the scenery for the rain!
