I've had a fairly eventful week this week, so I'm going to split this entry into different headings to make it a little more concise ;
Work
Work has been ok I guess, a girl I am supposed to be training has just come back from her leave, so I started training her on Monday. I really don't know where to start, or what to say, because not only does she have weak IT skills, but also very poor customer service skills. She can turn a relatively pleasant telephone conversation into an argument, I just think she has no idea of how to deal with people.
I also had to represent the project team I am working in, in a big, departmental meeting. The girl who I am training up, was casting aspersions on the way the team works etc and said that she still couldn't fix problems etc. I felt like saying "I'm not surprised because you have no IT or customer service skills and shouldn't be in this job". Luckily I managed to bite my tongue, never the less I felt very tempted to say something.
I only had a four day week this week, which I was quite pleased about. I went to Nottingham with my friend Parker ;
Social Life
As ever, in my longterm-girlfriend days, my social life out-side my relationship with Donna remains as quiet as ever. However, on Friday, I went to Nottingham with my friend Parker.
We had a look round various shops, saw numerous attractive women, and had a few drinks at weatherspoons and sat at a table next to a Window which overlooks Nottingham's main market square. While waiting at the train station, I also saw one of the new Midland Mainline Meridian trains which looked quite impressive.
Going back to Nottingham made me feel rather sad, as it reminded me of the days when I had independence, excitement and variety in my life. I used to spend my working week living in Nottingham, then at the weekend spend a night at Donna's house, and then a night at my parents' house which gave me time to catch up with some of my friends and family. I had friends who I'd made in Nottingham and friends from my village/college. Now I stay in contact with very few.
Coming back to Lincoln from Nottingham, made me realise how rough and inbred the populous of Lincoln is in comparison to proper cities such as Nottingham and Sheffield. God knows what made me even consider coming back here. I should have made Donna come to Nottingham with me, but then, in my eyes, that would have made me a selfish person as she would have had to sell or let out her house. A risky business, either way.
I also went to fix an old friend's (John) PC (someone who used to work at the school I attended) last night. He has been an AOL subscriber for 7-8 years, and recently decided to upgrade to AOL broadband. However, despite installing his broadband modem, they neglected to give him an installation/registration CD. Needless to say, I spent some time on the net finding out how to get it activated without the CD. I managed to do this last night, and he was very pleased to have it working. Afterwards he showed me his home cinema/projection system and we watched the Fugitive, which proved to be a very gripping film.
Weekend
Tomorrow marks the end of the weekend. Donna was doing a 2-10 shift yesterday, so we went into town to deal with a few odds and ends at the bank etc. We also had a bite to eat at a restaraunt in Lincoln called the coffee club.
Today she is doing a 7-4 shift, I got up at 6:20 with her which is an absolute killer. I went back to bed and didn't get up again until 11 AM. I feel a bit pissed off with her, because I only agreed to live in her house with her if she got a normal 9-5 job. Some people never keep their word. Guess I'm one of these old fashioned kinds of people who believes in doing what they say.
Anyway, I must go now, a game of Burnout 2 on the X-box is beckoning me.....
