Academy Awards 2007

As ordered requested, I am putting together a brief overview of the Oscars. Red carpet, that is. Have to say on the actual ceremony, heard that Beyonce ended up singing 'Listen', the big showpiece song of Dreamgirls. I am completely shocked if this true. Surprised beyond belief.

Anyhoo, red carpet. Kinda dull this year. There was no Charlize Theron big bow dress to mock, nor any ultra-sophisticated vintage Valentino modelled by Mrs Roberts

Nicole Kidman. Boring. Red and just.... red. Add a weird bow thing to one side and pretend that makes it interesting rather than distracting.

Kate Winslet wearing a dress that's pretty nice and classy but not particularly flattering. As I saw mentioned on someone's journal, it may have worked better had she been red-headed rather blonde, but still I think she could have had a better shape, too. Still no bad, though.

Technically not red carpet, but Jennifer Hudson's red dress was all the sparkly glam and dramatic, however it didn't seem particularly special in design. Though I was less impressed with her Oscar De La Renta dress.

On the Dreamgirls theme, Beyonce's dress had a weird sash thing going on that was totally distracting. It just seemed... lumpy.
Cate Blanchett looking all the dramatic and glam and original, as one should. Not sold on how it photographed, though. Seemed too metallic.

Cameron Diaz all decked out in a white Valentino dress, showing great taste. *cough*

Emily Blunt. Good colour on her. Played it safe, which is wise with what I think is her first Academy Awards, but if she goes to any more I do hope that she tries something more flattering. However, even the experienced red carpet walkers can play it too safe.

Unlike Penelope Cruz. Hee. Fluffiness. I like the all-out glamour drama and the colour, too, but hee, so feathery fluffy. But at the same time... Dammit, this dress just dilemmas me.

Jodie Foster. It's strange but the dress looked really nice on telly but in pictures it faired much less well.

Oh, Anne Hathaway. Why. Oh, why. I mean, Meryl Streep may have let Prada down but there was no need to wear Valentino's ugliest dress.

Maggie Gyllenhall. I Can't really tell from this picture whether I like it or not since it's a side view and could be unflattering from the front. Still, the navy works on her, though I think navy on the red carpet can feel a bit dull.

Jennifer Lopez. I like it but at the same time, there's something not quite right about it.

Helen Mirren. Ah, work it, Helen, just work it. It was so sparkly and lovely on the telly!

I think I could like Gywneth Paltrow's salmon pink mermaid dress, if it weren't that draining pale colour.

Aniki Noni Rose. Oh, dear god.

It doesn't matter where Eva Green goes, her evil eyes will hypnotise all. Mwa hahahahaha!

Reese Witherspoon's dress. Again, it looked better on the telly. The different layers were less obvious and it didn't seem like it was cut out of tissue paper. The colour suited her, too.

Any links no work? Lemme know.
