Serious news
I got quite caught up reading The Independent at lunch today. Good to see the topic of Global Warming
dominating the front page, though at the same time, obviously not good that it it's an issue that needs such urgent attention. A number of
interesting articles in there, though I shamefully haven't read as widely on the topic as I feel I should. The BBC also
have news about it and, well, the
environment in general.
Still important news
A contraceptive pill that may reduce the risk of breast cancer and heart disease? Can only be good, though I shall remain cautiously open-minded on it till more research is done.
Probably important news
White House chief-of-staff quits. I'm doubtful this will change anything much but thought to mention it anyway.
More frivolous news
The TV Bafta Noms
have been announced. There are a number of nominations for
Bleak House, including both Gillian Anderson and Anna Maxwell Martin for 'Actress'. From the few episodes I saw of it, they did pretty damn good, so yay. Rufus Sewell also received a nomination for his
The Taming of the Shrew part, which was certainly quite a... character performance.
