First Day

I survived my first day of teaching. Yesterday was a full day of meetings and classroom preparations. I can't believe they only really gave us 3 hours to prep our rooms. If I only had three hours, my room would have been no where near where it needs to be (it still isn't a pretty sight in some areas). After a 2 hour break I had open house.  It  was interesting to meet all the parents without knowing any kids. Most of them were very nice and interesting, one seemed to scare me but I'm determined to not let it bother me. Afterward, I was so exhausted I could stay there for a moment longer.

When I got home, I nearly collapsed from exhaustion. I had planned to take a sleeping pill to make sure I got a good night of sleep. I never get one the night before school starts and this one I wanted to make sure was a good one. I didn't even get the chance, I feel asleep before I even thought to take it. I also slept through the entire night, not waking up at all until nearly my alarm went. Apparently old age has one out and/or the exhaustion of cleaning a classroom.

Today went pretty well. It was interesting to start developing a connection with students. I already made a few jokes with kids.  My first hour seemed dead today while my fifth (last) hour couldn't seem to contain themselves in anyway. It will definitely be an interesting year. Hopefully I'll excite them some.
