The tiny little girl was a witch. That had to be the reason. Most of them probably thought Gabby was clever and fun, possessed of a wicked sense of humor and a too-sharp tongue. Now they knew better - her teasing mischief had almost become a torment, an exercise in making them think quicker, move faster, solve more complex problems of logistics, engineering, and construction. Which didn't mean she shirked her share of the labor - in fact, her tiny stature made her imminently suitable for some of the dirtiest jobs in the tightest spaces, and she almost seemed to enjoy that.
During part of the time she spent training the Name Removed, they played World of Warcraft. No excuses, no sitting out, no not having an account. She gave accounts with level 70 toons to everyone, and expected them to learn what they're doing on the fly. Just when they thought they'd got it mastered, she instructs them to hand off their computer or their toon to someone else, so that they had to be flexible in their thinking. When questioned, she sited appropriate GIS research that explains that what they're doing has been shown to improve logistical problem solving for groups.
There did seem to be a moment that threw her. One night, while she was munching down on a rat, she came away with it and made a horrible face. "Fuck! This is not working...." she glared balefully at Guillermo, "This is your fault." Then she looked around, "Somebody better tell me about safe ways to feed from people."
