I, um. See some (more) potentially skeevy racial and gender issues coming up in the casting. (If you weren't already aware of my thoughts on those in the Gateverse, you might want to skip the post. I'm not particularly nice in my thoughts about the PTB these days.)

OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE!!! I am ANGRY WITH RAGE now. I saw the description for that character in January before they cast it and it was my last straw for any chance of ever watching that show, and now, not only is she a woman, she's Asian, too?? Good fucking Christ, are they trying to come up with the most egregious stereotyping they CAN?

I feel like someone should write Ming-Na a note and warn her, you know? Do you think maybe she just doesn't have any idea how badly she's about to get screwed over? I mean, there probably exists a team who could do awesome things with the character list as SG 90210 is written, but this is not that team.

You forgot that the IOA is international, and therefore evil, because all we need is good old-fashioned American ingenuity to save the universe, didn't you? I know, I know, I forget these things occasionally, until I watch an episode of Stargate and remind myself of that. (Also, all black men are badasses with horrible tempers, women should know their place, doctors are doomed to die horribly unless they're one of the white male series leads, and the entire galaxy is comprised of Renaissance Faire planets.)

Occasionally I forget how bitter I really am. But today isn't that day.

BUT YES. Poor Ming-Na. I'm sure she's going to do a wonderful job with the material she has, but I expect the material will be AWFUL.

They screwed over almost all their characters, one way or another. I expect they'll do the same thing here, and I just do not want to be along for the ride.

I know. Seriously, I've invested enough time and energy into this fandom and these series, and I'm so over the idea of a third show.

...but aren't pretty much all the producers Canadian?
