Oz the Great and-- What? Really? No. Just, no.

My early Oz fangirlishness did good things, because I was able to find and sent Mr. Havoc the textual proof that the Wizard of Oz was a con artist, thief, and all around bad person who usurped the kingdom of Oz, kidnapped Ozma, and sent her off to be "hidden away" by Mombi. My adult self thinks that the wizard probably wanted Mombi to kill Ozma and that way his hands would be clean. My childhood self thought would never have thought that, because my childhood self didn't really see that dark side of things.

To be fair to Mr. Havoc, he had never read The Wonderful World of Oz, which is where this information comes out.

Oz the Great and Powerful. Hah. Whatever. He kidnapped a tiny girl and gave her to a witch to be killed.

I'm counting this year's film to be revisionist propaganda put into place by Oz himself. He'd so do it, too.

I mean, I'm totally going to watch it when it comes out on DVD, because I love Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis, and Michelle Williams. (I keep wanting to call Evanora "Evie." It's so bad.) But I'm going to get it from Netflix or the library, because I don't want to give them my money, and also I can shout at Oz for being a colossal jerkface without the entire movie theater looking at me funny.
