Yes, I did sign up for
femslash10. (I know at least three of you get to point and laugh at me now.)
lyssie reminded me that it was a pretty damn good idea to pay up and write fic after we lobbied so hard to get Leverage included.
Listed fandoms I request: (limit three):
1. Leverage (Sophie Devereaux/Parker, Sophie Devereaux/Maggie Collins, Sophie Devereaux/Tara Cole)
I have three happy pairings here. (There are so many more possibilities, but I wanted to avoid listing too many.)
I, like many femslashers, think the possibilities for Sophie/Parker are endless. Parker's socially awkward. Sophie's the epitome of manipulation (for the good of the crew, of course, or so she tells herself). But! She's interested in Parker as more than a friend, even despite the whole boyfriend issue of second season. Was that maybe part of why he felt like he didn't get to know the real Katherine? There are a lot of complicated layers to Parker and Sophie that make this pairing fascinating.
Sophie and Maggie have Nate in common. But I think that Sophie knew Maggie in her Portia identity. After all, if Maggie is that good at appraisals and authentication, and she's worked with Nate in the past, surely Maggie and Sophie have run into each other before. I would like pre-series stuff, but Maggie and Sophie set during the series would be my ideal.
Sophie and Tara have known each other for a very long time. Tara owes Sophie so much that she drops everything and works with the crew for the months that Sophie's away. What's the debt? What's the connection? How do they work together, and how did a couple of supremely independent grifters hook up? If you couldn't guess, a pre-series Sophie/Tara story is what I'd like best. It doesn't have to be how they met. I'd adore a story of how they worked together, or what led to the debt that Tara owed Sophie.
2. The Vampire Diaries (Bonnie/Elena, Katherine/Pearl, Bonnie/Caroline/Elena)
Bonnie and Elena share everything with each other. There was a short period of time where Elena kept secrets from Bonnie, but that ended after Emily's ghost intervened. I would love any kind of a story that demonstrates the emotional connection that these two have.
The thing about Katherine/Pearl is that they're just so messed up in all the best ways. Katherine feigned the role of Southern belle and had a twisted-yet-mostly-happy polyamorous relationship with Stefan and Damon. Pearl was the town apothecary, and nearly seduced Elena's several-times great-grandfather. They were best friends, and probably more, but, when push came to shove, Katherine escaped and left Pearl to die. I would love either a historical (I love historicals) or a present day story with them.
3. n/a
I didn't make a third listed fandom request. I just included this so you know I didn't miss anything.
Wildcard fandoms I request: (limit three):
1. Stargate: Atlantis (Teyla Emmagan/Elizabeth Weir, Kate Heightmeyer/Elizabeth Weir, Laura Cadman/Teyla Emmagan)
I've spent so long in SGA fandom, and that's because I love the women of the show. Please, God, no character death. I don't care how canon it is; I just don't want to deal with it. I love all of these pairings and would be happy with any of them.
Teyla and Elizabeth are both leaders. They're both emotionally controlled. They can both let go with each other, and who else can they confide in? I could say a lot more, but, um, there are plenty of posts in my journal and plenty of fics that give you an idea of what I like about these two (or, for that matter, about any of the pairings I requested from SGA).
Elizabeth and Kate both have their similarities too. They're both isolated by their positions. Both of them have responsibilities they don't necessarily like. In Elizabeth's case, it's sending people into danger and taking responsibility for their safety. In Kate's case, it's being responsible for the mental well-being of a couple hundred people who are constantly in high risk situations. Yeah, they're not under any pressure, right? I can see them trying to be solitary pillars of strength and then, one day, just cracking in front of each other. Or, you know, whatever you want to write.
Laura is snarky and sassy and likes to fight. Teyla is snarky and emotionally reserved and likes to fight. Each of them is well-versed in defending others at the cost of their own well-being. Each of them could find a lot of commonality, and they would probably both be pretty open to learning about the other's cultures. (That's canon for Teyla, but we don't see enough of Laura to know for sure. But given the aplomb with which she handled having to share a body with Rodney, I can see it for her.) I love, love, love Laura/Teyla.
2. St. Trinian's (Annabelle/Kelly, Chelsea/Ms. Dickinson, Celia/Polly)
Annabelle/Kelly is fun because Kelly can show Annabelle the ropes (possibly literally), and show Annabelle how to be Head Girl after Kelly leaves. Annabelle ends up embracing St. Trinian's, and why wouldn't Kelly show her all the little things she needs to know to survive? (You know, where the cameras are, how to pick locks, various criminal skills...)
Chelsea and Ms. Dickinson are one of the few teacher/student pairings that do it for me, possibly because Ms. Dickinson isn't one of Chelsea's teachers (to the best of our knowledge), and partly because Ms. Dickinson is played by Lena Headey, and ohgodyesplease. Also, really, don't tell me Ms. Dickinson hasn't been lusting after Chelsea the whole term, what with that lecture she reads Chelsea at the end of the movie.
Polly/Celia is my minor character pairing of fun. You can do practically anything with it and it works! :) I threw it in for variety's sake.
3. The Chronicles of Narnia (Lucy Pevensie/Jill Pole, Aravis/Susan Pevensie)
OH, NARNIA. I fell in love with this series as a little girl. You can fuse book-verse with the movies, if you'd like, especially because the book-verse with its insistence on girls not fighting annoys me.
Lucy and Jill are the almost-tomboys of the Narnia universe. They have Eustace in common, at first, but what else could they find if they spend time together? You can AU this as wildly as you want, because I would adore Lucy and Jill having adventures in Narnia together. Or running into Narnian-style adventures in England.
Susan and Aravis are both adventurous women who also like to dress up, when the occasion calls for it. They're both underestimated, to the detriment of their enemies, and they both have encountered Rabadash before. (I mean, as a Tarkheena, Aravis has surely encountered Rabadash socially before. She's way up there, socially.) My one very specific request is to please avoid Middle Eastern, anti-Muslim fail. C.S. Lewis didn't avoid it, and it kind of frustrates me throughout the whole series.
