Cat Scratch Fever

Feb 10, 2008 17:30

Well, this weekend didn't start out well for me. My daughter wanted to visit for the weekend and we thought it would be a good idea to have her bring her cat since her cat and our cat pretty much grew up together.

Bad idea.

As soon as K let the cat out of the carrier the hissing and growling started. Runt (K's cat) and Brutus (our cat) pretty much did this for 3 hours straight. Circling around eachother and the apartment. We seperated them into different rooms at one point but the pathetic howling from both animals prompted us to let them out. They behaved themselves for about 10 minutes then went at eachother. All claws and teeth!

We seperated Brutus from the fray and put him in our bedroom. Then had to chase Runt down. I found him cowering in a corner behind one of our bookcases. (you all can see where this is going?)

Yeah, I did. I reached for him. Teeth went into the hand below the thumb and all four paws were shreding my forearm.

By the time I was able to drop him I looked like my arm went through a meat shredder.

The Doc's at the Emergency Room were surprised a cat did the damage. They thought it was a dog of some sort. One good thing for me is that both cats are up to date on all their shots.

Runt and I made up before K left yesterday. I don't blame him for what happened. I blame myself. I guess when you have two tom's you cannot expect them to be uber friendly after almost a year apart. We will not try this little trick again.

Sore but healing HF
