Country drive

May 25, 2005 22:38

I took the big blue ute out for another drive today. It's been a good month for work trips. Every time I drive out of the city I'm aware again of  the sense of space you get in the country. It's like something inside you suddenly expands to meet the sky and the horizon. I don't realise how much I miss it until I feel it again.

Another quizzy thing )

fun, me me me, work

Malta? cool.
But I was hoping for a shocking revelation, ike you're really a 46 year old, 200kg man who lives in his mother's basement.

How do you know I'm not? I could just be a damn good liar...

Seriously: 27 year old swf, talk too much, occasionally drink too much, rather opinionated at times but otherwise terribly boring. No dark skeletons that I can think of. I may have to start inventing a few.

I didn't grow up in the country but I know exactly what you mean by the feeling of expansion. I only realise how deprived I am when I go to the bush and always tell myself I won't leave it too long until the next time.

It's amazing isn't it? Something about being hemmed in by all those buildings shifts your focus inwards. And I only live in little old Adelaide!

I think all these work trips into the countryside have been making me homesick. I only make it back to my parents' place a couple of times a year these days. Have decided to go visit next long weekend and get it out of my system.
