At the request of my dear
le_cuivre , I'm posting two of my recent drabbles (I have so many more, but none of them are finished because I fail at focusing!!). The only one that really has a place in the main plot is the second one, which happens right after 423.
The Simple Things
Like any other evening, it was quiet in the house, with only the sounds of soft keystrokes and the distant clattering of dishes. He turned away from his screen and sighed as he ran his fingers through his bright orange hair. He never liked having to bring his work home with him, but the occasional big project or last minute client request would thwart his plans for a stressless night.
Leaning back in his chair, he rubbed his eyes, sore from staring at his brightly lit screen for so many countless hours. He knew he’d reached the point where focus was no longer possible, that point in which every other minute was spent fidgeting or staring at mundane objects about the room. Sighing heavily, he pushed back from his desk and walked down the hall towards the gentle clanking coming from the kitchen. But as he reached the doorway at the end of the hall, the faint sound of humming caused him to pause.
He leaned against the wall and watched her quietly as she finished tidying up the counter. Her auburn hair cascaded down over her shoulders and her skin almost seemed to glow in the dimly lit room. She hummed quietly to herself as she put two plates into the cupboard. As she closed the door, she turned towards the kitchen doorway and saw him standing there.
Neither one said anything as she stared at him with a warm and gentle smile. That smile was what he loved more than anything else. No matter the time of day or the mood he was in, it would always make him happier than he could have ever thought possible.
He walked slowly towards her and wrapped his arms around her small frame, planting a light kiss on the top of her head. And as he felt her melt into his chest, with her arms wrapped tightly around his waist, he knew that these moments with her could never be surpassed by even the most breathtaking of dreams.

Warm
I felt like I’d lost an entire world that day. A part of myself- gone... In reality, things were only going back to the way they were supposed to be, but knowing that it all wasn’t a dream… remembering everything, but feeling it slip away…
I tried to act as though I’d accepted everything… but I couldn’t then, not right away. But she knew. I tried to smile, but she saw through it. She smiled calmly and held out her hand.
“We should go back inside, ne?”
Hesitantly, let her grab my hand. She took it without looking back and led me inside the house.
I’d forgotten what it felt like… to feel someone’s hand holding mine…
It was warm.
Always warm- even her smile. And through everything, she’s been there.
Yeah, she’s always been there…
