Double standards on sexism!

There is one other reason for his behavior, and it’s actually a very depressing one. The truth of the matter is, Shirou does not have any goals or sense of self. His only desire is to help other people. He’s always running ahead and getting hurt because he genuinely thinks of himself as worthless if he isn’t helping others. In other words, he’s protective of Saber because he considers her more valuable than his own life.
Of course, this person may not be aware that the FSN anime was based on an eroge and the anime does exaggerate that side of Shirou, so that may be why. I suppose she can be forgiven for that.

This person's remark on Ushiromiya Battler, however, pissed me off to no end. Again, the anime version cut out a lot of information in the original visual novel, but even fans who got into the series through the anime are aware of the VN and many of them know to look that information up. Battler also happens to be my favorite character from Umineko No Naku Koro Ni, so you can imagine how "delighted" I was to see someone call him an "emo drama queen who slaps women" who should "crawl back into [his] hole" because "Beatrice owns [him]".

Let me get this straight. You think a guy is an asshole for not wanting his Love Interest to fight, but you also think a guy is an asshole for hitting a woman who is not only NOT his Love Interest (at least at that point in time), but an antagonist? Are you in favor of gender equality or not?

And if Battler is a drama queen, just look at his grandpa! “BEEEEEEATORICHEEEEEEEEEE!”

And let's not even get started on Beatrice herself. Holy crap was Ohara Sayaka having fun.

But remember boys: It is never, ever acceptable to hit a woman. Not even if she’s killed your family twice, had her minions kill you multiple times, and laughed when your family was killed by someone else. In fact, you shouldn’t even be upset that your family has been killed at all. You're a drama queen if you are.

After all, nothing says “I’m a strong, independent woman” like slaughtering a guy’s family and laughing in his face!

(Beatrice acts the way she does for a reason, of course. But again, I don’t think the person has read the visual novels and just thinks it’s cool that Beatrice is domineering)

male characters, umineko no naku koro ni, "stop being a man and having feelings!"
