THANK YOU. What's even more annoying is when they like France because they think he's a rapist and they find that funny/cute/sexy. I saw this utter moron on YouTube yesterday who thought that there was no other reason for watching Hetalia other than to see people getting raped, and they mentioned France. I wanted to reach through the computer and throttle them. It is NOT funny/cute/sexy to see someone getting raped; how hard is this to comprehend?

I wish I were joking, or that this person was. I'm kind of hoping it was just a troll, but I've seen plenty of people make similar comments who were dead serious.

I somehow didn't see your third point the first time I looked over this, so I'll add my two cents now! I've seen people bash Russia in a similar manner because Russia/America seems to be the second most popular America ship just like FrUK is the second most popular England ship. (I've also seen people bash Portugal for similar reasons, but to my knowledge, they've never called him/her a rapist.) And it's so ridiculous that the less mature USUK fans feel threatened by Russia/America or FrUK; USUK still has way more fan works than Russia/America and FrUK combined. Here's the most recent number of stories for each pairing from FanFiction.net; I set the rating to "All" and the genre to "Romance".

USUK: 5,372

Do either FrUK or Russia/America seem like much of a "threat" to you?

Yes,I also noticed,that Usuk has the biggest fanbase,and still the fans are really possesive,when it goes to their OTP.I will never understand the ,,shipwrecker'' thing.I'm a FrUK fan,but I don't see both America and Seychelles as a ,,pairing destroyers''.I actually heard something,that Russia is also bashed because of RusAme,however France gets more hate from the fandom.They even bashing Portugal,who is a OC?I'm really not impressed;/

Um, didn't Himaruya include a scene in which France actively rejects the idea of being a rapist? And doesn't he also go out of his way to show that France, while overdramatic and selfish and all, is MUCH MORE than a mere pervert without any depths? (Lisa? The French soldier and his wife? Who are these?)

France is obnoxious, pushy, melodramatic and super sex maniac. But he's more than that, too, and as an USUK devotée I LOATHE what some USUK fans do to him.

Curiously, I don't see that much France bashing in my corners. But when I find it, it's like URGH. The trivialization of rape and all kinds of sexual abuse coming from his fans is a sight to behold - and when it's paired up with the old "Rome raped France and that's why he's a pervert!", it's all kinds of squick.

Lol,I actually went on some Hetalia related video,and France bashing was in almost every comment+FrUK bashing and rape jokes.But the worst comment was ,,because of France,for me all French are rapists''.Really,that was the dumbest comment I have ever read in my life.People draw him with punched face,insult France fans,cosplayers and roleplayers,one girl made a stamp,,France is a freaky rapist''.Often rabid America and England fans behave like that.

And I kind of love the double standards fangirls apply to rape. If the resident 'pervert' even so much as gropes someone, it's creepy. Whereas if it's someone the fangirl likes or considers "OMG ULTMATE SEME", it's SOO HAWT. *sigh*

I agree with you that I hate France bashing and that I hate that people call him a "rapist" (or want him to be a rapist, ick).

Also, not all USUK fans are like that. And not all France bashing is connected to shipping USUK; I know fans who don't like USUK but still bash France for being perverted.

We must be in different fandoms, then, because while it's true that many people call him a rapist (a rather cringe-worthy accusation, IMO), I've rarely seen this being used as a reason to bash him. Actually, I've seen more people liking him because of him being a "rapist" (very sick, indeed). Anyways, NONE of the male characters in Hetalia gets even close as much hate as the female characters do. Hell, I've seen England getting more hate than France because of his popularity. So, calling France the most hated character in Hetalia? That's an exaggeration without foundations.

Also, I agree it's out of place to use a France "defense" as a way to denounce the "evils" of bad, mean USUK fans. Oh yeeeeah, I forgot that all the bad things in the Hetalia fandom are caused by the USUK fans...
