THANK YOU. What's even more annoying is when they like France because they think he's a rapist and they find that funny/cute/sexy. I saw this utter moron on YouTube yesterday who thought that there was no other reason for watching Hetalia other than to see people getting raped, and they mentioned France. I wanted to reach through the computer and throttle them. It is NOT funny/cute/sexy to see someone getting raped; how hard is this to comprehend?

I wish I were joking, or that this person was. I'm kind of hoping it was just a troll, but I've seen plenty of people make similar comments who were dead serious.

I somehow didn't see your third point the first time I looked over this, so I'll add my two cents now! I've seen people bash Russia in a similar manner because Russia/America seems to be the second most popular America ship just like FrUK is the second most popular England ship. (I've also seen people bash Portugal for similar reasons, but to my knowledge, they've never called him/her a rapist.) And it's so ridiculous that the less mature USUK fans feel threatened by Russia/America or FrUK; USUK still has way more fan works than Russia/America and FrUK combined. Here's the most recent number of stories for each pairing from FanFiction.net; I set the rating to "All" and the genre to "Romance".

USUK: 5,372
FrUK: 1,241
Russia/America: 888

Do either FrUK or Russia/America seem like much of a "threat" to you?

Yes,I also noticed,that Usuk has the biggest fanbase,and still the fans are really possesive,when it goes to their OTP.I will never understand the ,,shipwrecker'' thing.I'm a FrUK fan,but I don't see both America and Seychelles as a ,,pairing destroyers''.I actually heard something,that Russia is also bashed because of RusAme,however France gets more hate from the fandom.They even bashing Portugal,who is a OC?I'm really not impressed;/

Yeah, what's up with that? And I'm a Russia/America fan, but I don't see England or, I don't know, Belarus as rivals that deserve to be bashed. Yep! Ever since those potential Portugal sketches came out, there's been a smattering of Portugal-bashing. (Which is REALLY weird, since I don't think there's even one hundred fics for it.)

Yep,I also like RusAme,and the same time Belarus and England,it's really pathetic to hate someone,because he/she gets in the way of OTP.With Portugal it's really weird.Philipino OC is pairing with everyone and I don't noticed a hate.

Yep! It's so stupid, and I know MOST USUK fans DON'T do it; I wish the sane fans would speak up more often. It's because he "threatens" a popular, well-established pairing and is usually only ever paired with one person (England). With the Philippines, she's paired with many different characters, so there's fewer fan fics and stuff with her overall; therefore, she's not perceived as a threat.

Actually, while USUK has a big fanbase, it's also among the most hated and bashed pairings in the whole fandom, to the point that many USUK fans rarely post their fanwork outside the USUK comm since they're scared of the backlash. And sadly, it often DOES come from rabid FRUK fans, and to the degree that all FRUK fans are stereotyped as USUK bashers.

Also, with Portugal... as far as I know, it's the other way round. Some of the first reactions I EVER saw to Portugal's possible appearance? Comments that had stuff like "die, America" and "ew USUK" under strikes. And about Russia, I've seen it come from everywhere: USUK fans bash Russia, but RussAme fans bash USUK and sometimes also England. The Chosen End, people?

So no, bashing is EVERYWHERE. Not only USUK fans do it, and as I've said I'm a diehard USUK fan, so I don't exactly appreciate you borderline bashing my OTP in a comm that is not supposed to be for that.

I actually don't bash Usuk and America,I don't really see sense,but when someone in that video throw in really mean manner words about FrUK and France ,I was raging.Really I understand dislike something,but calling pairing shit,France rapist and cheater,and all French rapists?

And yet the comments up there seem to be somewhat less about the hate France gets, and more about how USUK fans are horri-bad and possessive. Which, whether these are your intentions or not, sounds VERY bash-happy towards USUK fans, or is very easy to interpret as such. Defending France without making comments that sound... snide against other shippers is possible, after all.

Not all of us behave in the way you describe, aka saying it's cute if USA rapes UK while bashing France for the same thing; I, kasumicc, haro and rosetteroulette don't do so, many others fans don't do so, so please stop putting all of the USUK fans in the same bag

Thank you so much for everything here. I don't like France bashing either, but the way this post is generalizing USxUK fans is such a huge turn off that it kind of nullifies the point of the post for me.

(Although I really do not agree that France is the most bashed of the main cast. Japan, for example, would disagree I'm sure.)

I know (and oops I forgot to reply). If you can't make a chara/ship defense without insulting people who dare like another ship/chara, then you should think twice about making such defenses.
