Having BAD memories of the Digimon fandom now...dropsofgleamSeptember 26 2008, 17:18:22 UTC
That's the same thing that happened to Yuuko Yagami, Taichi's mom, when she once was *really* harsh to Taichi for taking his sister out when she was sick. Granted, both mothers' reactions *may* have been a bit over the top (and that's saying a lot), but all of the two ladies's other actions make clear that Yuuko and Ayako care for their children and would NEVER abuse them.

Now, see, that?
I don't have a problem with.
These are just very strict mothers. Saying they were being a bit harsh is fine, but going about saying they hate their children when all other instances point to the very opposite?
It's that kind of ridiculousness that I have a problem with.
I'm not very familiar with Digimon, but that sounds pretty bad. Poor, poor Yuuko. ^^;

Don't get me started on Yamato and Takeru's parents either. @.@;;; In fanfiction, Yamato's dad is always shown as an abusive alcoholic and I thought, "What!? When the hell was he ever like that?"
Guess what, Digimon fandom! People who divorce aren't always bad and/or abusive people. Hell, look at the messed up state of a lotta marriages in America. @.@;;;

WTF? Digimon did have examples of parental abuse, yes. Jeri's father (from Digimon Tamers) was undeniably abusive. But YAMATO AND TAKERU'S father?! 0_0 The guy helped his kids against freaking Myotismon!

//Jeri's father (from Digimon Tamers) was undeniably abusive.//
Also, THAT single abusive parental unit was shown *regretting* his neglection of his daughter, falling to his knees and BEGGING his daughter for forgiveness when he realized it was his fault she was all screwed up. And then he risked his life to free her from the Cosmic Horror that was holding her her hostage.
