Kagome complains about ten bajillion times less than InuYasha himself does. I'm hardpressed to think of things she really whines about minus the occasional agonizing over school (and who doesn't do that?). I may be less inclined to be irritated at the 'whiny' argument if they targetted characters who were actually whiny.

And Harry's behavior didn't bug me in the least in OOTP. I'm one of the few people who found 'capslock Harry' rather refreshing.

I've never understood why people hate Kagome to begin with. Even if she isn't strong physically she's strong mentally. Besides that most people who complain about characters whinning probably would shit their pants in the situations Kagome goes through. =/ Seriously some fans are all big talk, but probably couldn't handle the presure if it was them in Kagome's shoes. I for one know I couldn't Kagome's a hell of a lot stronger than I am.

Most people couldn't. It would take a heck of a lot of strength. And to remain as level headed as she does? She can think under immense pressure, something not even some trained warriors can do.

Speaking of trained warriors, that's why I can't buy the 'not strong physically' argument either. Every single other member of the main group is a fighter who was raised in sengoku jidai. Yet despite that, she keeps up with them. She's obviously a substantial lot stronger and has more endurance than most modern girls her age would. Because most people couldn't do that. She's not superwoman, but she has got to be pretty strong. Not to mention it takes a lot of strength to use a bow in the manner she does- a lot. It's not an easy weapon to handle. I get so tired of weak!Kagome fanfics. They treat her as if she's some kind of wilting flower.

I'd guess maybe Kagome's atheletic, except she doesn't seem to have had time for clubs even before the start of the series.

I was just remembering today that James x Misty (in Pokemon) is called "Whinyshipping." Now James does whine, though I think it's part of his charm, but Misty? She occasionally complains but if anything she was the voice of reason in that bunch.

And I didn't mind Harry in OotP too much either. I think it just finally caught up with him that his life could have been a lot better. (If he hadn't had to live with the Dursleys, be the "boy who lived" etc.)

But yes, ordinary emotions and actions like complaining and jealousy can be exaggerated in the minds of some critics.

Whinyshipping, eh? o.o Didn't know that. I don't support the pairing, but that's interesting. And James actually didn't used to whine as much as he does now. **sighs sadly and bemoans the fate of Team Rocket.** The writers just don't know how to write for them anymore. Now they're just dead plot devices.

I like the pairing, but I'm mainly a Rocketshipper. I always wanted to try to write James x Misty though, but I never managed.

I haven't seen Pokemon at all lately. It's a shame if they aren't treating Team Rocket right, because Rocket-centric episodes used to be some of the best they ever had.

Yes, very much so. I always loved the Rocket-centric episodes. The last one I saw that they had was way back at the beginning of Pokémon Advanced, when Jessie and James were trying to protect all those Pokémon from the poachers. Since then, the writers just don't seem to know what to do with them. They've become miserable tack-ons to the episodes and seem to exist only so Ash can blast them away. It's such a waste of good characters.

I find it amusing to note that most of the people who make these arguments are actually more whiny than the characters themselves.

This is especially the case with Tidus from FFX, since they exaggerate and make it seem as if everything he said was him whining, which is, needless to say, bullshit.

See also = Raiden from MGS2

I never got the Tidus=whiny thing.

Tidus being whiny was one that always confused me. His childhood wasn't that great & he's been thrust into a really weird world that makes little sense to him. He manages well enough, I think. & plus, you're hearing the story from INSIDE HIS HEAD--of course there will be more complaining!

Word. Complaining or getting upset or being nervous =/= whining. Real whining is "oh noes I broke a nail my life is so icky", "my boyfriend broke our date I must sit in my room and cry all night cause he doesn't like me anymore", "my old man yelled at me for spilling Coke on the kitchen floor, life sucks, I can't do anything right, I kick walls now", "I don't wanna do my homework, stop trying to boss me around you stupid teacher", "This coffee tastes like snot, I go slit my wrists now"...THAT'S whining and I'd probably get sick of a character who did that evert 5 seconds. Being scared cause you're stuck in an unfamiliar place, not being happy that your dad yelled at you just cause he had a hard day at work, being annoyed with a significant other for breaking your plans at the last minute, saying "Hey, I think this bread is a little stale!"...that's human nature. Try as they may, people can't smile and be happy and strong about everything all the time.

Hey, if I'd were in Harry's place, I'd act the same way, except a little more violent.

I have anger spasm. I get angry easily.

Speaking of anger, is it true being angry a lot gives you more risk to get a heart attack?

I think so...anger is related to stress, which causes heart trouble.

Why?
