With every fandom that has large amounts of fanfiction, and perhaps just fandoms in general, misconceptions about certain character or story elements can actually become a kind of "fanon" of its own amongst those who watch the series. In Digimon, a lot of rabid Taiora (Taichi "Tai" Kamiya/Taichi Yagami and Sora Takenouchi, the two main characters) fans have let their rabid Taiora-ness infect their memory of what actually happened in the show. Suddenly, Sora's winding up with Matt is a horrid betrayal of the pure and perfect love she and Tai have shared since preschool. Let the fics depicting Sora and/or Matt as (an) evil beast(s) from the bowels of hell, or Tai as miserable and suicidal. >_< Folks, there has to be a relationship before that relationship can be betrayed.
