I am rather surprised that such a character with a small role gets a bit of bashing among the fans. In this case, I'm referring to a guy from Weiss Kreuz Gluhen.
Aguri Kyou (Weiss Kreuz Gluhen) - I cannot believe this guy gets bashed for such small reasons. It is unfair for a minor character like him. I can understand why some may criticise Sena but in regards to Kyou...come on now!! How can anyone say this guy doesn't follow orders? If you think he is reckless as season 1 Hidaka Ken or Fujimiya Ran then think again. Sena can be just as naive and reckless. I don't know why people are often pointing their fingers harshly towards Kyou.
Common reasons for bashing Kyou usually include how very unappealling he is because fans think he is an athletic stereotype, which I don't think is really the case. Now Ken, yes, I can see he is sporty but as Gluhen shows he's become a little 'cooler' than his previous counterpart in the first series. Another silly reason is because Kyou's weapon is bad. Honestly, I don't know why the heck fans are thinking in such a narrow perspective. This is a ridiculous excuse to hate a character. I had nothing against Kyou's weapon, let alone Sena's (a lot of people say Sena's weapon is like Xena's chakram, which is understandable).
What is so bad about a character who is capable of suppressing his aggressive side when it comes to missions? Kyou focuses during battle. He casts away his thoughts on being unable to save his younger brother in order to get his job done sufficiently. Is that a bad trait? I think it's quite an appropriate ability. That is to be able to suppress your thoughts on revenge or your worries in order to do an important mission. Kyou knows Sena reminds him of his younger brother and as a result cares for him as if the latter really was a relative. Kyou can't help feeling this way, but at least he places this memory of a lost sibling in the back of his mind prior to his work.
Kyou may have only appeared in five episodes but fans shouldn't belittle him severely. Despite being a minor and overlooked cast member, he would have been able to develop into a rounder character, just like Sena, given the opportunity. I just wish some of the fans wouldn't be so mean to such minor characters in a series. Kyou just happens to be a victim of this treatment, sadly enough. It was a shame he died so soon. I was beginning to like him as well. Yare, yare...there's always fanfics though XP.
