So my system survived having its central nervous system replaced (motherboard replacement with exact model via RMA, in addition to putting in the new CPU and RAM that I got previously that had been sitting on the case waiting for this day to actually occur). Worked like a charm.
2859 3D Marks. For E6700 + 6600GT, I'm #1 (but by the looks of it, I'm the only person running an E6700 with SLi 6600GTs as the #2 is 1717 Marks).
Against all systems in their database, I'm 1347553rd, but that is neither here nor there ;)
Intel E6700 Core 2 Duo (2.66GHz @ 1066)
Corsair XMS2 1066MHz FSB, 2x 1GB DIMMs
eVGA 122-CK-NF68-AR (nVidia 680i)
WinFast GeForce 6600GT128MB
eVGA GeForce 6600GT 128MB (Tied with SLi)
750GB (3x250) RAID 0 Array
250GB PATA System Disk
Samsung DVD-DL Burner
And yes, 1066MHz was numerically compelling enough (along with the price reduction) for me to buy the RAM without having the processor that could take it yet in my possession *)
I had to call into MS to get my OS reactivated, but I expected that.
Next piece of hardware to replace: my v557. It has crashed about 10 times in 2 days. I just wish the damn data cable connector wasn't busted. I'd just reflash it...
