The Sixth Death: But not as you know it

[There's the crackle and pop of a fire in the background--Susan was lucky enough to find some wooden siding on a mostly knocked-over building. Not good for much except firewood, for which it's working excellently.]

...Death works very strangely here. [She sounds vaguely unnerved, because this is very much not Death, or death, as she knows it.] Not only as a concept, but...

It seems these Animus are far more powerful, and far stranger, than I first believed. At least, I assume the impermanence of dying is yet another of their effects, deliberate or no. They certainly have enough power to alter the make up of this place, without much apparent effort at all--I imagine bringing the dead back to life is just another of their effects. Perhaps they think it fun. If anyone knows differently than this, I would be very grateful is you would inform me.

...

The library here is surprisingly adequate, considering the state of this place. Do forgive me, Ms. Washuu, for not being able to attend your assuredly very excellent lesson. I had prior occupations that would not let me get away. [Chiefly, finding tea. Hush, it was important to her]

So does all excitement here come in the form of monsters from without or Animus from within then?

far from home, at least my hair hasn't failed me, i like books better than people somtimes, death vs the animus, so many questions so few answers, figuring things out, but i'm death's granddaughter, information
