It's a shame that the wide range of functions on these devices seems to have been limited to simple text. While I am quite comfortable with the written form, and am even getting used to these very small buttons fairly well, it was nice to have those other options as well

Ugh, that's one thing that I couldn't start. I'm sure we're going to see some rain soon thereafter the thaw. I'm only able to collect the water on a small scale though the effort to do the entire city is proving to be daunting challenge.

It doesn't all have to be manmade. Surely there must be a way to work with the natural geography of the place to store water. A natural aquifer, a way to fill or make a reservoir of some kind...

I'm a fair hand at engineering, especially the numbers, but I would need help. And would like expertise.

Hmm, that's certainly an idea. If there was a way to store water underground and find a way to pump it out.... Hey!! I think that could work! A cave would be great!!

The trouble with that is working out how to get it back up again. Can the parts necessary for building basic pressure-based pumps be found in this city? It's so hard to tell with this much snow on the ground.

Well, all it really takes is to make a few molds and a lot of accurate mathematics to make them perfect to make the parts. Molds for metal can be made from dirt. That's how a lot of metal molds are made.

I'm sure a good hot fire can melt the metal with lead and aluminum having a low melting point, though I don't think that lead pipes are good. Plastics are good too but they would crack too easily from the pressure.
