day one of the corrado stereo install
after 2 hours of looking, i hopped online to find a location to put a 4g wire through the firewall, someone at vwvortex said that there was an empty grommet chillin under the carpet in between the brake and clutch pedal, sure enough, it was there.
after that, it was pretty much a breeze, ran the power wire to the trunk, the patch cables, the remote wire, and i had kasey run the speaker wire from the trunk to the front door panels and hide the wires that i hadn't hid yet
the door panels were kind of a bitch to get apart, fuck volkswagen and their love for using screws instead of plastic tree's. once we got the door apart we found that although the new kicker speakers fit in the stock location, the posts that the speakers are supposed to mount onto do no line up. FUCK FUCK FUCK
So i thought if i could cut a ring out of mdf with my jigsaw then i could make it work, i cut one up, nope, the mdf peice does not fit at all, ARGH!!!
so at this point i thought id take a breather and uninstalled the stock cd changer that was in the trunk, yanked all the wire out that was hooked up to the deck, the fucker that put the changer in used this double sided tar stuff to attach the changer to the frame, i used a giant pry bar to defeat the evil sticky tape tar crap.
so, my next solution to the wretched door speakers was to fill the areas around the posts with bondo. once the bondo dries, then i can attach the speakers using short screws to the bondo. i hope the bondo is strong enough to attach the speakers to it, i will know tommorow after it hardens
imma give it a rest for the night and play some gauntlet with my best friend
oh and in case you are all in awe as i actually posted something, i think imma try to post more often, i mean, this is a journal, and i should put more day to day things in it so i dont have to remember.
