The Maintenance Day

Jan 19, 2005 22:39

What a nice sleep in, pity it was short lived due to Mik's phone call with not much talking and only grunting. Had to pick him up at 8:30, but I was still pumping out the Z's at 8:40. Since he then decided to drive in, I set my alarm clock for 9:15 and slept away. Sweet. Nothing like that extra half hour ( Read more... )

1stly.. Christ mate.. care to write some more?
2ndly.. When i started reading i thought it was today the post was about.. but then about half way thru there was something which alluded to the date.. but seriously.. i couldnt tell.

As for the mac thing.. all i can do is bow my head and shake it slowly..
Tho i MUST say that being a linux fan that the bsd portion of OSX is a MASSSSSIVE impovment. ALSO the introduction to their budget rigs is also good (brought out same time as ipod minis) to hit the right audience.
The only thing i have against MACs is that its like they are talkn down to me.. "your too stupid to know what a network is.. so ill call it something else and reduce the options.. you little rascal" im like.. FUKKOFF.. i want random hex numbers that i can sort through and configure.. something that will give me a feeling of accomplishment afterwoods.. BAH!
Which is why i find Micro$ofts products good .. they are sometimes inefficient (ive seen bugs in OSX aswell as XP) but to me they lay a logical pattern of useability (but then again i am prob just used to it) which is sometimes too advanced in *nix clones.

So, in conclusion...
*NIX thru the ROOF!
WINDAZ needs a better backbone with same feel
MAX needs to talk to me at same level, and keep their kernel

dun makes me slaps yous!
(yes i am bored)

1stly A. I could :)
2ndly A. I think the date screwed itself over. Everything said all happened on Wednesday, the 19th of January, 2005, etc etc.

I agree with the network shizzle. Macs are to standard. BUT, is good for my working environment (which I added). I wouldnt lower the price of my house by having a Mac within.

In conclusion...
GO *Nix!
Gratitude to Apple for putting BSD in OSX. It makes my job easier and can control machines remotely MUCH more efficiently.
Windaz is good for people who know how to trick it into doing things, but is well, plainly fucking unstable and you cant close a freekn program if it hangs! nothing like the good old 'sudo kill 568' command. LOOVIT.

mm.. but ive managed to stop mac machines in their tracks just by doing something.. logical.
That is.. if its something they dont anticipate i.e changing formats, screwing around with multiple instances of files etc.

Actually i think i find my whole deal thing now.
Everything these days are built as a package and not meant to be modified.
Take cars. In "the day" the same motor was used for over a decade, making transplants and such very easy. The cars were BUILT TO BE COMPATABLE.. and so it went. However.. NOW in "this day" they are built so that they need to be profesionally fixed (in most cases)
As my dad said, in 10 or 20yrs time, most car restoring will have stopped as any parts that have broken will no longer exist and there is no reason for creating them (and no ability by smaller companies or hobbyists) One of the things i have most against macs are their "plug and play" (or i rather say it "plug and then talk down to me" *murmurs*) their out of the box and into the wall compatability with their OWN products is both a blessing and a curse. A blessing to admins, a blessing to the majority of oblivious users (no offence) but all i see is a slighty less flexible, more MODERN MINDED (throw away item) system which hasnt got the upgrade ability to bend over backwards to suit ur requests (tho with the last yr of socket changes in PCs its about the same on upgrades)
I will probably always bitch about macs.
Most of the time.
I dont like the feel of them, i dont like the black box approach.
Its time to get muddy people.
Get knee deep.

:)
hahaha, you are bagging Macs "plug and then talk down to me"?
1. That doesnt even make sense.
2. HA! :) Windows Plug and Pray is so much better :) it hardly works. Yes you dont have to reboot with MOST hardware, but then again, you do in the end anyways, just cause it fucks up.

And someone has to say it:
Stop talking about fucking cars. In the end, you'll be relating Cars to food, chicks, sex, typing, reading, choosing what condoms to buy at Woolies (I'm going to HAVE to get some of those vibrating ones btw!).

Anyways, I do believe you're missing my MAIN MAIN MAAAIIN point; They are good for me at work. NOT AT HOME.

:D
Amen.
