What a nice sleep in, pity it was short lived due to Mik's phone call with not much talking and only grunting. Had to pick him up at 8:30, but I was still pumping out the Z's at 8:40. Since he then decided to drive in, I set my alarm clock for 9:15 and slept away. Sweet. Nothing like that extra half hour.
I was welcomed to work with a furry of post-its on my office door. They looked kinda kool. A post-it montage. I should have taken a photo. I think some of them were in their own way a little sarcastic about the time delay in the mornings regarding my response to phone calls and emails. Post-its are the last resort to get an IT boy to remember something. It's in the handbook.
The irony of it all, was that my boss got to work before me, which by the way, is as rare as hen's teeth in april. He hadn't had one single call. Goddam managers.
I don't understand 'managers'. They did what you used to do before they became a 'manager', you would think they have some form of appreciation for the shit you cop and the random kind of stuff one would do in the background.
Anyways, there I was, informing people that their machines would be going offline and online throughout the day (while I was infact shutting others down that I ... well, don't really like. They can suffer).
It's weird. I am such a self professed PC fanatic, but I would find it so hard to manage this same amount of machines (300+ and growing) if they were PC's. Macs are so easy to manage. Apple, ARD and Unix. Its a blessing to any IT Support officer.
I've been messing around with some of Mike Bombich's stuff. He's an Apple programmer that codes his own little lab deployment apps on the side. They're top quality! As much as I bag Apple at times, they sure know how to make things effective and targetted to the right audience.
Anyways... updating ARD Master list was a time consuming process, whilst renaming over 200 machines so we can at last have some form of standard. Can't stand not having standards.
12:30 found my munching on my lovely sandwiches spawned by my darling mother dearest, and smelling the off scent of stale cigarettes and coffee. Keith was in the vicinity. He must be bitching to Erick about ITS (Ze Germans). But alas, I was wrong. He was walking down the corridor on his way to my office, not Ericks, so I saved my 'homely' office by taking him into 'the boss'' room and continued to eat rather loudly on my sangas, whilst bagging ITS (Ze Germans) and bitching about the political mess with UOW. But hey, what can we do?!? Nothing I could be bothered doing.
The rest of the day seemed to mindlessly dissappear with the random phone call from Mik himself, and a few random messages from the lovely lady; Jess.
Ended up leaving work at around 6:30... BIG DAY IN THE OFFICE. Quiet biggered if I may say so myself.
Arrived home after driving like an idiot along the freeway. I think my driving skills are slowly diminishing. I've been driving like a moron/wanker/one of those idiots who cant drive properly. I think I just need to think a little more when I'm out and about. Oh well.
Dinner was served. Well, it was served about an hour before I got home, so i ate by my lonesome, which doesn't really bother me that much. I'm a loner at heart, and it's great.
Anyways, off to my bombshelter of a room and drown myself in the soft tunes of Offspring and The Killers. The Killers!! I can't get them out of my head. Damn they're tiptop.
Had my church service and headed out to rip up the town with Mik-o-man, which ended at Maccas, and coming home to my beloved Tux, iPod and Athlon. I think I would die without my trusy iPod. It's my resort to any thinking situation. Drowning myself in random music (seriously, it is random music... you would have to see it to believe).
Only one week and one day till I'll be able to see the lass of my life. I think it's about that time when you're due to come home Jess :Þ.
Anyways, that about concludes my day. I do believe its half past bedtime. Adios.
Btw - I don't think I've posted lately at ALL hey. Have a good one all your... peoples.
Cheers
