I went out for a treat at the local Cineplex Odeon to watch Attack on Titan: Part 1 special showing. As I was waiting for
sonic_assassin to arrive, I saw a small familiar face walk by me.
Buddha Monkey!
With his school friends who finally got the meet the Great Aunty H. It seems my name gets mentioned a lot in reference to anime, Anime North, and movies. And he was more worried about his sister showing up and dragging him out than anything else.
Buddha Monkey is a little underage for this gory movie but he had permission from his mom but I was pretty sure she did not know what the movie was about (after pming in FB she told me she did not really know what he was seeing) but he had no nightmares so all is good. And the boys were more surprised by the breast fondling than the gory deaths. Boys!
And Vague Dude was there too but I missed him in my usual survey of the movie attendies I do at genre movies showings becasue his short hair kept me from recognzing him.
Attack on Titan: Part 1 was gory, bloody, and had some plot changes I kinda expected because live action movies have certain constraints not in manga and anime. The Titans looked real creepy and well rendered in CGI. I am pretty sure they CGIed some real people because their expressions were pretty freaky and dead on horrific. But they still had my fouvite character is the cast list - Zoe Hange, the obsessed Titan sciencetist from the Survey Corps. So I got what I paid for.
I will be seeing Attack on Titan: Part 2 later this month.
And this webcomic summed up my usual attitude to gory movies.
