1) Turning Point 1997-2008 by Hayao Miyazaki 2008. Translated by Beth Cary and Frederik l. Schodt. 2014. More gather articles, interviews, and elegies about Hayao Miyazaki and his movies career.

2) Patlabor The Movie Archives Chikashi Saito, Kenji Takigawa, Tomohiro Kawakami, & Mayu Miyamoto. Tanslated by Dan Kanemitsu, Michael House, David Fleming, Riyoko Sakemoto, Demian Ryu Ichinose Smith, Ryo Kuako & Minako Mori. The small book is packed with a lot of background information about the first Patlabor movie and it director, writer, sound track composer, and other cast and crew since it came in the late 1980's as one of the best mecha movies of this genre of anime.

3) By Grand Central Station I Sat Down and Wept by Elizabeth Smart Original Pub 1945, reprint 1987. This is a lyrical autobiography of Elizabeth Smart's affair with English Poet George Baker, whom she flew with his wife to America during the height of the second world war. The language flows with the guilt, the highs and lows of an love affair that resulted in bastard children which was a bigger shame in the mid twentieth century.

4) Raising Steam by Terry Prachett. 2013. One of the last books written by Pratchett. It has all the hall marks of his Discworld novels with appearances by most the regulars of Ankh-Mor Pork denizens. A must read for fans of his books.

5) Samurai Sushi by Bobby Suetsugu. 2005. I had this book in my collection for ten years and I am finally reading it now. A good introduction to sushi in all it's forms in Japan and in North America.

6) A Voyage to Arcturus by David Lindsay. 1968. Original published 1920, while not easy to read, it is probably a good book for people looking for an obscure science-fiction philosophy and morality book.

7) Christine by Stephen King. 1983. A long slow build up of dread and anguish about the evil that inhabits us and our things.

8) If Angels Burn by Lynn Viehl. 2005. One of those vampire romance stories. Read only of you are desperate for junk food reading.

9) Private Demon by Lynn Viehl. 2005. Sequel to If Angels Burn, it a contuniation and an additional vampire romance story. More junky reading.

10) Pocket Dictionary of Irish Myth and Legend by Ronan Coghlan. 1985. Covers the most common gods, goddesses, heroes, and heroines of Irish mythology and legends.

11) Celtic Myths and Legends by T.W. Rolleston. Senate edition 1994. I've had this book for 20 years and finally read now. It covers most of the legends of the Celtic culture in Ireland, Britain, and Wales. Good a reference book for those interested in Celtic myths and legends.

12) As We Saw Them: The First Japanese Embassy to the United States by Masao Miyoshi. 1979, republished 1994. This is an interesting book for those interested in Japanese history as it was forced to go out into the wider world beyond it's shut borders. A lot of danger in those early days but some humour too. Good if you want to see how the Westerners and Japanese viewed each other in those early days.

13) Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot with drawings by Edward Gorey. 1983 edition. What can I say, it's the classic book of the Jellicles Cats in all their glory and infamy. And enjoyable read even without musical accompaniment.

14) 24 Hour Comics Edited by Scott McCloud. 2004. A collection of the early experiment of making a short comic of at least 24 pages in 24 hours. This is the start of the phenomenal yearly occurrence around the world. The stories are diverse in style and format, some just a simple story to very personal tales.

15) Ghost Galore edited by Robert Fisher and illustrated by Rowena Allen.1986 reprint. A clutch of haunting verse for those who are fans of ghosts and spirits.

16) My Boring Ass Life: The Uncomfortably Candid Diary of Kevin Smith by Kevin Smith. 2007? I got this book for my husband but ended reading it myself. While it can get repetitive, it is a interesting glimpse in the every day life of Kevin Smith and those around him while he gets the ball rolling for Clerks II and other movie projects he was involved in in the mid -2000's.
