Wow! This has hit a lot of people hard. I'm surprised people are not posting here about. I know for many people it is very personal and brings back so many memories--first fandom home, first place they posted a story, for me those things and also the place where I met the majority of my closest fandom friends. (I have an underdeveloped sense of privacy--so here I am.)

I certainly respect the owner/operators' reasons for wishing to discontinue it. Nothing can last forever. But I wish HASA could. It's legacy is enormous within the Tolkien fandom and it has housed some the best and most influential fics of the Tolkien fandom for so long. I do hope there is a way to preserve the canon resource sections. One can find this stuff other places, but HASA has had fabulous quality control and (cough, cough!) uniquely the citations! I write a monthly character bio for the Silmarillion Writers Guild (with footnotes!) and I double-check myself against HASA every month t make sure I haven't overlooked anything.

I intend to try to track down, along with others of the Silmarillion Writers Guild, authors of the significant Silmarillion fics. We have section called the Library of Tirion for classic Silm fics written/posted before we had a website.

Thank you everyone and, especially, thanks to Ang.
