Keito sat in his backyard, on the newly cut grass. Right next to a small bed of pink flowers which didn’t seem to bother him at all. It was 9 PM and the bright stars lit up the night sky perfectly. He lay his legs out from his criss-crossed sitting manner and breathed in the cool evening air. The feeling was just amazing to him.
This was his favorite thing about where he lived, it wasn’t those tall apartments that were surrounded by the city’s own lights, but it was a quiet and private place of the city. Keito would often relax there at this same time at night if he had free time and wasn’t working with his group. In this same spot, he would also think over his days, his problems, or anything random at all. It was also a place of a great memory.
That memory, as old as it was, would never fade away from his mind. No matter how many times he tried. In that same spot he sat, the memory would always come back. It was because, that one memory was about a girl. It was hard to believe to the boy, since he never really felt these special feelings for someone. But that girl was his best childhood friend, one that only understood his feelings as a child. That he did soon grow even more adult feelings for.
Keito lay on his back, still looking up at the bright milky star-lit sky. His hands were placed to his sides and stroked the smooth green grass with one hand. He then brought that hand to the back of his head, stroking his own hair this time, oddly comparing the feeling of the grass to his own hair.
“Just like she used to do.” Keito thought. He then slowly slid his hand back to his side. He looked at his palm and the spaces between each h of his fingers. He closed his eyes and clenched his fist, trying to hold back tears.
“I wish…you were here.” He said quietly to himself. Then the pressure overtook him and a tear fell down from his eye then rolled down his cheek. It was those words he wanted to reach to her, but it was impossible. Ever since Keito had left for England, he hasn’t seen her since. She had moved to a place that was much farther from Japan. Which was overseas, to be exact. He wasn’t sure where, and because of this, he had no way of contacting her. It killed him inside at the thought of never hearing that voice again.
The thought came back to his head, so he closed his eyes to try to hold back the tears and went into reminiscing the unforgettable memory.

“Now, you guys don’t get hurt playing outside, okay?” Keito’s father called out to the two kids who ran to the back door to the backyard. The two families were just about done with dinner, and they let the kids have fun outside since they had been rowdy throughout the whole dinner.
“You can’t catch me Keito-kun!” A young 8 year old girl with her black hair tied into pigtails said, running around the place. Then Keito, just the same age as her, running after her in every direction. It was just this fun game of tag that the two best buddies would always do. The cool spring air blew in their faces and it made them feel even more hyped up.
The little girl started running in all different directions. Up, down, left and right. It made it difficult for Keito to chase her anymore so he just lay in his spot where he was standing, his body facing up at the tinted blue twilight sky. He sighed from his exhaust and looked up at the sky. As he admired the color, he didn’t notice his friend suddenly lying next to him.
“Pretty sky, ne Keito-kun?” She faced him and smiled her toothy smile with her gap from a lose tooth.
“Yeah, very pretty, the same color as your shirt!” He replied, pointing at her royal blue shirt and giggling.
“Well, the grass is like…” She said, feeling the grass beneath her. She looked up and down at Keito and sat up.
“Keito’s hair!” She finished, running her own fingers through it and messing it up.
Keito laughed at her comparison in response and still lay on the ground, the night sky gradually becoming darker and tiny little forms of light started to appear.
“Whoa! Look!” He said, pointing upwards. She looked up to where his finger was pointing. Her face was in amazement as she looked up. She then lay on her back next to the boy and pointed upwards too.
“Cool! See, that one could be Mama, and papa,” She went on, naming the stars that started to appear on the sky. Then it ended up in the both of them naming stars.
“That one can be you,” Then Keito pointed to a star that seemed to be the closest to it, “and that one could be me!” They both giggled.
Then the little girl grabbed his hand and clasped it with hers from when they were pointing upwards.
“They are stuck together, like we are!” She said, bringing both their hands up into the sky to show him. They then both giggled and kept their hands clasped together.
“Let’s be together forever, Keito-kun!” She said, smiling as wide as she could again.
Then it was, at that time, that Keito first fell in love.

“Keito… are you awake?”
As he finished reminiscing, he heard a voice come from above him. It was a soft, familiar voice that it took him a while to figure out that it was someone calling his name. He blinked his eyes a few times, then kept his eyes open and looked up. His eyes widened at what he saw.
Long black hair was hanging down from when the person was looking down at him. He then saw the face of the person, seeing a familiar face and a familiar smile on her lips. It surprised him. It was the same face, the same smile and voice, yet matured.
It was her.
Waist deep in thought, because
When I think of you,
I don’t feel so alone.
