Park City (Part 1)

I went to Park City, Utah....this is what happened.

So, I went to Park City this past week to go skiing and try to get around to the Sundance Film Festival. I was going to be meeting my dad there and we had arranged so our flights got in within a few minutes of each other. I flew from LA to Vegas where I was then going to catch my Vegas to Salt Lake City flight. During my hour layover I sat down at video poker machine. Nothing like the sounds of slots and poker as you exit the plane. Well, I threw in a couple bucks and won $25. God bless those 4 of a kinds. I get on the plane and its off to UT.
The pilot gets on and says "we are beginning our decent into the Salt Lake City area, we should be on the ground in 31 minutes". Ten minutes later he gets back on and says that we have to turn around and go back to Las Vegas. Apparently the 1/8th of a mile visiblity due to fog is making it hard to land. So we bust a U-ey and fly back. We land, I turn on my cell and my dad left me a message asking where I was. I call him. He (who was supposed to land 7 minutes after us) got in. As we are taxiing the pilot says that they are checking with other airlines and places to book us. Our flight was cancelled 20 mins before we landed. How the hell does that work? Well, everyone and their friggin' mother is going to Sundance and a few minutes pass before the pilot comes back on and says "There aren't any flights for 3-4 days (yes, DAYS). People are freaking out because most people had to get there that night but now can't. I told the people sitting behind me about my dad making it in and we are all getting curious.
De-planing de plane, we go towards baggage claim to what else but get the baggage. There was a guy and a girl who I was now talking too regarding getting to Sundance. The guy had his boss's dog and gift baskets for a premiere party that had to get there. That's when we decide that our only option is to rent a car and head out there. Luckily another guy came along who said he just rented a car but he'll switch it to a van if we all want to join him and help lower the costs. So we do this.
All in all, 3 guys, 1 girl, a dog which happens to be Pierce Brosnan's dog in the movie that was premiering, take a 7 hour journey across the barren land that is Utah.
It was actually a fun trip. We discussed things like movies in which the girl (who wants to be an actress) didn't quite grasp what was a good movie. We talked about Sideways and she says "Is that a funny movie? You know what was really funny? Did you guys see White Chicks?" Oh the 5 seconds of silence that followed that statement was priceless. It was a great adventure and I made a few contacts. We made it safe and the dog was okay.
Oh, this actress, at our stop at McDonalds in Mesquite, Nevada saw this tanned guy eating and she asks "That's a nice tan. Where did you get it?" He looks up at her like she was a mental case and replies "From outside".

This is the first story, look for more.
