I tend to agree with the goals of PETA -- animal rights seem like a pretty noble thing for compassionate humans. However, I've never felt that PETA's tactics were justifiable. In fact, I find many of them repugnant, immoral, and illegal.
A couple of PETA workers are about to
go on trial for dumping 92 dead animals in a dumpster. The trial will be watched closely by many. The above story pointed to a rather
damning website, which exposes PETA as a rather hypocritical (to say the least) organization.
My co-worker is a PETA contributor. Make that was. When I showed him the above info, he was at first indignant, then tried to rationalize, then finally decided (after a prolonged bout of cognitive dissonance) to write a rather angry letter to PETA's president. Good for him, though I suspect it won't alter PETA's agenda or tactics in the least.
To quote my co-worker: "The world's going to hell. I can't trust anyone."
That sums it up succinctly...
