hitting the ground throwing...

So, after my last post, I only had a couple more weeks before the pottery took an extended break, and then I had to take a break because of my schedule. It was a huge bummer, but it happened, and then was over. =)

In August, I decided to finally open the etsy shop that I had been planning and working on for some time. While on my ceramics break, I took that time to take picture of all my "older" work, post everything and work on finishing some other projects (for instance, our dinning room set... still not complete... yikes! Dale is so patient. =)

In September, I was able to start up again! In fact, there was one night that I was mistakenly NOT told NOT to come, and I basically got to throw by myself for a night... It was my first night back, and I threw 25 lbs of clay. (That's a LOT. Usually, I used to use about 30-40lbs in 8 weeks!) I just had fun with it. I let go of a lot of stress through ceramics, and it had been a LONG time... I was productive and happy. haha...

As the weeks have continued, I was able to glaze my work from June that was bisque fired after the break, and have since posted those pieces on my etsy shop as well! I've also had 3 sales on the site and a couple others not through etsy so far, which is pretty exciting! Etsy is fun because it takes a lot of networking on the actual site to get your stuff seen. But, that way, you also learn better ways to do things, and that's helpful too.

Since that first day, I've thrown a lot of cups. A LOT of cups. =) There have been some other things as well, but I'm enjoying cups right now, so... why not? I'm working on getting consistency throughout the piece, and on throwing the shape that I want to be trimmed to. Sometimes it's a struggle, but I'm still having an absolute blast.

Some of the girls from Sugar Hill Clay and I are having a ceramics sale on Dec. 6th, and then I'm going to Clarkston to do an Alternative Giving Christmas Sale. This means.... I need inventory! And lots of it! So, I'm working hard to make sure that I have lots to sell. Tomorrow, I'll be working on stuff with Jill LITERALLY all day. I'm excited!!! But you know what... I think that means... I should go to bed!

This is enough for now. Check out the shop before the sales if you were planning on buying something!!! =)
