I'll go back if you ask me

I dunno if the various reviews of Tuesday's show were just wrong, or if Wednesday was just dramatically better, but Bloc Party was fantastic last night. Arrived early enough to see the extremely underwhelming Automato, but things were great after that. Sure it was hot enough that I was sweating, but that's also because I was jumping up and down and dancing with the very active and fun crowd (well, at least the third close to the stage was, dunno what was going on towards the back). And ya, the crowd was young (16+ door policy), but you gotta appreciate the kids that wanted to see this band. I like the renovations they've made to Webster Hall as well, they've moved the bars around and opened up things a lot on the right. Now if only they'd stock Sapphire behind the bar. Anyways, we were treated to most of Silent Alarm plus a couple of older songs that I didn't know and a new one or three. Wandered back to the merch table to pick up a t-shirt after the encore only to be treated to a (slightly strange considering people weren't cheering much, and the house lights had come on) 2nd encore featuring a little Kele drum solo and a couple of stage dives by the band. Too fun.

Kele, at least, called it the best show they've done in New York, and at least from what I've seen (I wasn't cool enough to see them at the knit), I have to agree. They'll be back in September for those that haven't yet caught them live. I recommend getting tix to the 2nd night.
