“Favorite ice cream flavor?”
“My favorite ice cream flavor?”
“Sure, why not.”
“Okay then, my favorite ice cream flavor is banana split.”
“Excellent choice,” Chase nodded his approval.
Hermione laughed, “What about you?”
“I would have to say banana split is mine as well,” Chase stated grinning. Hermione blushed lightly.
“Why the sudden interest in my favorite stuff?” Hermione asked, grinning. She could hardly believe she was flirting, but she was… at least she was pretty sure this was flirting. She didn’t flirt much so she wasn’t entirely sure.
“Just curious,” he said before getting up and he left the room.
Hermione frowned slightly; she was having fun even though it was weird at first at answering these twenty questions about her to him but it was nice to finally get some attention other then snickers and whispers behind her back. She wanted to know why she was always the person behind them, everywhere she went. Hermione, however, knew she would never know.
At the end of the day, when she got back to her office to get her stuff to go home and sleep, she was surprised to find a bowl of banana split ice cream on her desk. She smiled and walked closer to it.
Hermione laughed, this was the one thing she would not have expected.
“So, would you be interested in eating some ice cream with me?”
Hermione, blushing, turned around to face Chase and grinned widely. He stood there, leaning against the door frame with a hopeful smile.
“Of course,” she said, hoping her voice didn’t squeak. She could feel her nerves starting up, and she silently scolded herself for feeling like a silly school girl with a crush. She shouldn’t feel like that, she never felt like that.
“Great,” his grin was infectious causing her to grin as well.
It might have been two in the morning, and maybe she was a little tired from the double shift she had to take care of today, however Hermione was too busy laughing, talking, and eating with Chase to care if she was tired or not. She didn’t want to go back to a lonely apartment and she really didn’t want to leave Chase.
THE END.
